I never received a line name when I pledged more than 17 years ago.
But I'm cool.
And I make my jackets look good.

Girl, our line "names" were a paragraph long rhyme--and they weren't pretty. And we could pick a couple of innocuous words from it to use on 'nalia, but never disclose the whole "name." We also could not disclose our ship's name, just the initials, except to other chapter sorors.

I've heard about line names like that - and I bet you still remember most (if not all) of your LS's line names too!

I'm guilty to that. I altered mine a little bit to make it more appealing to an online message board, not knowing who was going to be seeing my info and everything. I thought about changing it but I didn't want to have to explain myself to prying minds.
To the OP:
A good idea would be "Your Name Here" on the back of someone's jacket or hoodie. If you all live the high principles of sisterhood, it would become a great recruitment tool.

Wayle...I've been busy - got me a national board position and all. I'm keeping a bit of a low profile before I go and say something that'll get me in trouble. Glad to see you've been on top of things around here, though!

That's a great idea for recruitment/rush shirts. I've never seen something like that on a jacket though, particularly a line jacket.

It sounds to me like this is something you are just trying to "make up" as you will...without a real historical or cultural tie in to your organization. If this is the case, why bother with "choosing a line name"? Surely, your new members will be able to function just fine without "line names".
I am almost 17 years in my Sorority and I don't plaster my line name all over my para at this stage in my life. The only sorority sisters who care/will care are those who follow the legacy of my initiating chapter and those who I personally have a hand in making.

Well aside from all of the super bitchy replies, which I see are common on here, I already had spoken to my chapter and I had a few that I was thinking of but maybe I should have been more clear with what I wanted and I have no idea how other organizations choose theirs but for us we try to have it be pretty meaningful but what I was looking for was more of a theme to choose from. Anyway I figured them out a while ago and they fit perfectly. There should be a forum on here though for why everyone on here always answers everything so defensively, instead of trying to help people there is nothing but sarcasm and immaturity

Because to many of us line names are such a personal chapter thing that we cannot fathom why you would ask the question here. Not being bitchy, just honest.

I got a a few ideas...
1. Smokey, Dopey and Doc
2. Rent their shirts out to buig corporations: one of them can can be called FedEx, the other Staples, and so on....just make sure it's not rented out to a company going under like Enron or that person will be hard pressed to come up with a new line name
3. Throw some silverware down some stairs and name them.....oh....wait that's an old racist joke....
4. Take the prefixes La, Sha and suffixes na and qua.....oh wait that's another racist joke....dammmit...
5. Ask them what their MySpace creen name is and try that.
6. Watch a few episodes of American Gladiator and use those names
7. If that doesn't work, the XFL has a few left over jerseys with crazy names that may be up for grabs.
8. Name them after Outkast songs.
9. Still thinking...nothing is coming to me.......
10. The last one that I can think of......maybe get to know your littles and try naming tham after what their personality is.....
BTW.....not trying to be snarky....
**snicker**
P.S. ROFL @ Noah's Ark......
