Well I'm finally done Open Houses!
I was unfortunately only able to attend 4 of the 8 houses, due to work and other commitments. I'm kind of bummed about that, but I did like what I saw!
Ok...the houses I went to were:
Ross
Chandler
Joey
Monica
Ross - As I said before, this was one of my favorites going in. However, I was a little disappointed by them. The girls I met were very nice, but I felt a little uncomfortable. A lot of the times the sisters were just talking to each other and I was just kind of standing by. However, I still liked who I met and am very anxious to see more during formal!
Chandler - I enjoyed my time with these girls, but it kind of seemed like all they talked about was frats! The girls were very nice and it was not awkward or uncomfortable, but I wanted to know more about their sisterhood. But again, I'm definitely not counting them out and am excited to see more of them during formal.
Joey - Before Open House, this is the chapter I could see myself most fitting in with. I must have good intuition because I LOVED these girls! This was the one house were I felt I made a good connection and "clicked" with at least 4 or 5 girls. I stayed here for a long time, and hated to leave! There was no awkwardness, and the conversation just naturally flowed. This was definitely my favorite house so far that I visited, but I don't want to get too "set" on one chapter before formal.
Monica - I really enjoyed my time with these girls. The conversation was comfortable, but one of the girls was talking about drinking which kind of turned me off, as that is most definitely what I'm not looking for out of a sorority. This wasn't my favorite, but I still really enjoyed this house and could probably see myself here.
I can't wait to see more of all of these chapters as well as Rachel, Phoebe, Gunther & Mike during formal! But we still have 3 loooooong months before rush. This has been 2 very hard semesters for me, and I cannot wait to find some girls with morals & values who will love me for me!
Sorry if this has been too long, but I needed somewhere to write out all my thoughts
I guess I'll talk to all you girls in February!

ADPi is having an open house tomorrow evening from 5-7 in the Trabant University Center. A few of my chapter sisters are going ... I won't be able to go, but I'm hoping it all goes well! It'll be exciting to have a chapter so close to Villanova.

Sounds like you had a good time, BlueHens, that's great! February seems SO far away, but I'll look forward to hearing updates again then. Still pullin' for Mike!

Shame on Monica. We always stressed that you never spoke of the 3 Bs: Booze, Boys and Bars

I learned 6 Bs:
Booze/Bars- self-explanatory
Boys- self explanatory
Bitches- (i.e. no catty talk about other girls or other chapters)
Bibles- religion
Ballots- politics
Bank- (i.e.flaunting your money--bad--but be able to talk about dues if asked)

How are booze and bars different? We learned 4 B's- Booze, Boys, Bible, and Bank.

Because in Ohio, you can't legally get into a bar until you are 21. Those who are under 21 still booze it in the dorm rooms and houses (illegally, of course)

It sucks she wasn't able to go to all of the open houses, and since we know when ADPi's open house was, she can't really talk about that one either. AND we have to wait until February??? I'm anxious to hear how the new colony will do - that's always so exciting! Good luck Blue!

I'm pretty sure you have to be 21 to enter a bar in all states. Clubs are 18 to party, 21 to drink.

Question about recruitments with one open house then the rest of the rounds later
...during the kind of recruitment that I'm most familiar with, actives were not allowed to talk to pnms during that week.
How does it work for the schools that have one 'open house' round, and the rest of the rounds a month or two or three down the road? Are they allowed to talk to pnms during that period between the open house round and the other rounds?
I'm just curious since I didn't go to a school that did it this way.

see i would think "bars" would insinuate more of "ixnay on talking about your party life, remember that whole greeks=party animal stereotype" vs "booze" insinuates more of... well, booze. lol

I'm pretty sure we're still allowed to talk to the actives and stuff. This was very informal, so we weren't really informed of any "rules" or anything of that sort.

Very fun thread -- my best friend from high school went to UD - it's such a pretty campus. Sad to see the Stone Balloon is gone (was it still there when you were a freshman?)
True Delaware story: I had to call Encyclopedia Britannica to get something sent to Dover back in the day when FedEx didn't deliver everywhere.
Me: Hi, I need that sent FedEx to the Dover Mall
EB: I don't think FedEx ships to Dover.
Me: I'm sure they do - it's the state capital.
EB: State capitol? Of what state?
Me: Uh, Delaware.
EB: (indignant) And what state is Delaware in?
Bad enough from the general public, but scary from people at an encyclopedia company....
But enough with the Delaware stuff ---- good luck with recruitment, sounds like you're approaching it with a great attitude.
