Interesting that ASU went to a 2 party pref...
when I went there it was 3 parties....(I only attending 1)....
Also when I went there, Nordy's had a great rep (they weren't so nice to me, but that is not the point)...
I hope Sunshine get's the sorority she wants....
ASU has a great greek system

No. ASU does still do a 3 party format. I am guessing that Sunshine only was invited to 2 preference parties, if she only visited 2 houses yesterday.
I thought they (PNM) only listed the houses they visited on pref. night on their pref. card? If Sunshine listed houses that she didn't visit on pref. night then I guess you put what houses you like. I went through spring recruitment (at a different school) so how the pref. cards and bid matching works at ASU I don't know. I just know some of the "behind the scenes" stuff. .
FYI-I was actually surprised by how many women only visited 2 houses (or even 1 house) yesterday. I went down to get some food during the 1st party and there were so many women downstairs. I kind of felt bad. But it is a mutual selection process and numbers game.

This year they only went to two preferences. If you go to ASU Panhellenic, they have a very nice brochure that details recruitment. It says, "You will attend up to two parties today and spend one hour at each house." I am not sure when they changed back to two from the three format as this is the only year I havae had any interest in ASU's recruitment. I honestly think two parties might be better. At least you have a 50/50 chance of getting a bid to the house you want. Sunshine would have been very happy in any of four, but I know that some pmn's get their heart set and will only put one house down on their bid cards and end up with nothing.
It will be a long day for a lot of people. I know the actives are even more exhausted than the pnm's. It is always such a shock when you get on the other side of rush (sorry - showing my age - recruitment) and realize all that goes into the process.

Also, the way Sunshine explained it to me: After the third round of parties, they went to a room and put their first two choices down, in no particular order. Those were their top choices if they were able to select where they wanted to go for Preference. They then listed the other three (if they had gone to five skit parties) in the order of their desire to attend their preference. That way if you did not get one of your first two, Panhellenic would automatically drop down to your third choice or fourth or even fifth, trying to get you to two preferences (or three if that is the format for the school) so that you increase your chance of being in a house.

Sorry, just re-read your last post. You are correct; after Preference, thepnm's list the houses that they visited that night in order of preference. It was after the skit (round 3) that they listed two houses where they wanted to go to preference, but ranked the remaining three in the order of their desire to return to the house for preference. As I am not there, I am going by what Sunshine conveys to me as well as the Panhellenic brochure. Could it be that the houses did three Preference parties but the PNM's on went to two?? Just wondering. (However, two preferences might explain why so many girls only went to two houses )

It could be that the houses did three pref parties and that the girls only went to two. Not being on the PNM side, I'm not sure. I guess it would make sense, that way there are less PNM's at the houses and they can get the 1 on 1 treatment and conversation at the house. All I know is that each house did 3 parties yesterday, but maybe the PNM's only went to two.

That would explain the wording in the Panhellenic brochure "You will be visiting up to two chapters this day for an hour each." It would be good for the houses (especially the small ones) in that they really do get to talk to the girl's one on one. However, does that mean that they have invited 3X quota??? (If quota is 50 they had three parties of 50??? I hope not.) That means that the pnm have a high probability of not getting into a house they preferenced. Do you have any idea what quota is? Oh, this makes me so very nervous for Sunshine!

Rush final
I just got a call from Sunshine's mom and she is now shopping at
Bloomingdale's!! I know she will find a real bond there and I am so happy for the wonderful rush that she has had this week. Lots of new friends and experiences. Best of luck to all the houses that still have rush coming up.
