OTW,
I would think Great America, San Jose? would have those funnel cakes. I know here in Virginia at Kings Dominion, another Paramount Park that they do have funnel cakes. I know Las Vegas has theme parks and there might be other parks in California that have them. Santa Cruz might be one place, but i'm not sure. Alpha Chi, here in Virginia the Arby's chain I believe bought out T.J. Cinnamons and they have those here. Billy Optimist, I know what you mean about the watermellon rind. My mom gets these jars from it from up in PA. Amish Country. I tried it a few months ago and it wasnt bad. I admit its not that great. My Mom told me that up in Maine the McDonalds serves Lobster Sandwiches which I think is pretty cool. I had a cheese steak up in Philly once on a roadtrip and it rocked. Cant really remember the place though. It was a small diner. Sigmagrrl. Blue Crabs are definitely known in MD and VA. They're too much work for me to eat. I worked at a crab house once during the summer of the Potomac.

There is a blockbuster about 2 minutes from my house, and recently, a guy set up a trailer to sell funnel cakes right outside of blockbuster. He makes them in about 2 minutes and they are yummy!

Teeny,
QVC sells funnel cake kits that are inexpensive and they do have the strawberry flavor. Check it out. They are so easy to make.
P.S. Billy Optimist, it is great to find another "Young Ones" fan on the net. God, I miss those boys.

TJ Cinnamon's is in the Emerald Square Mall in N. Attleboro, MA. It's just north on 95, take the first exit, I think 1B. Take this west and the mall will be on your right. But, I have heard of Spike's, the hot dog place, right? I never ate there, but I always wanted to. I miss Thayer St. I really want to move back to RI someday. I used to eat at Wings to Go ALL the time! I miss Ben&Jerry free cone day, that was the only time I got to mingle with Brown students!!

Okay, I am almost positive I went to a TJ Cinnamon's somewhere in Northern Virginia but I don't remember where. Probably one of the malls near DC or something.
Anyhow, the number one thing I could not live without around here is North Carolina style barbeque. My family lives in Virginia and every time I go home or my mom comes down here we take some barbecue back with us. I also couldn't live without southern cooking. And even though I know they're expanding and you can probably find them some places up north and out west, I can't go a week without Chick-Fil-a. I can't imagine having to eat fast food and not having the option of Chick-Fil-a.

Something we have here at school are theese called chrusties. Only this one restuarnt here has them. They are like pizza dough things wrapped around different ingredents like pepperoni, sussage, beef, etc. My favorite are the barbecue chicken ones. Especily with ranch sauce.

I can't LIve without pappas con huevos. Potato and Egg tacos. It's a south Texas thing. Too good. This joint (fast food chain where EVERYONE goes after going out at about 2AM. It's called Taco Cabana, or affectionately known as TC's) serves the best EVER. They have a combo meal, two tacos and a drink for $2.49. So you gotta remember to save that much for the end of the night. It's also killer comfort food. You gotta remember that in Texas, a Taco isn't what you get at taco bell. it has to do with the shape, not what it is. Most of what we call tacos others from north call burritos. the only differenc is the ends arent wrapped. But you eat it like a taco, just in a flour tortilla. I learned to make my own and the are too good. i got's the recipe if anyone is interested. i learned from a genuine aubelita. (mexican grandmother). So I have a family recipe.

Kittie,
I love Chick-Fil-a! I'm from Michigan and I'm so mad we don't have them here! I had it when I went to Atlanta to visit a friend. That place is great!
One thing I thought I couldn't live w/out was Steak n Shake. This is somewhat of a reversed story b/c I had it when I was in Illinois! But I live in Michigan and I was so pissed that they didn't have them here. So I was all on this quest to go to Chicago as much as possible just to get some SnS! But now, they have them here and they built one right around the corner from me You can only imagine my happiness!!

Sigmagrrl,
Dont quote me on that but i am 99 percent sure that Arbys has those T.J. cinnabuns. I still live in Virginia. It could be that there still are T.J.s around the malls of Northern Virginia. Like Potomac Mills along I95. I live about 40 minutes south of that and we have a few Arbys around here that sell those Cinnabuns. I also like those Cinnamin Raisin biscuits at Hardees. Of course I think Hardees have the best biscuits hands down. I think Chick-Fil-a is pretty good. I'm not crazy about the waffle fries they have. One of my favorite places, kind of a fancy fast food place is Friendly's. They have pretty good icecream there. Olive Garden Restaurant is kind of growing on me. They have great Italian food and desserts.

I didn't realize it until recently that Krispy Kreme is primarily a south eastern chain. Am I right? I know that they are expanding since they went public on the stock market, but I don't think there are many yet. Also, Hardee's? I think they are primarily east od the Mississippi.
For anyone that doesn't know - Krispy Kreme makes the most delicious donuts. Hardee's is a fast food chain, but they are so much better than McD's or BK.

Allie,
You are right. I grew up in NYC and went to college in RI and I never heard of a Krispy Kreme until I moved to MD. I know I will get crap for this, but I hate Krispy Kreme. I am a DUNKIN' DONUTS WOMAN!!! WOOOOHOOOO!! I had Krispy Kreme once and the donut tasted like motor oil! I love all Dunkin' Donuts items!! My faves are Boston Kreme, Blueberry, and Chocolate Creme!! MMMMMMM! I haven't had a donut in 4 months! Great, now I want one! LOL
