HERE ARE FIVE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY FRAT

1. NO MATTER WHERE I GO, IF I RUN INTO A BRUH THEY SHOW MAD LUV.
2. TEN FOUNDERS ALIVE AND WELL TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH US.
3. THE CENTAUR WALK (NEED I SAY MORE?).
4. WE KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOING, CAUSE WE KNOW WHERE WE'VE BEEN.
5. I PHI IS JUST DO DOG GONE FINE. LOL.

(1) The fact that I am the face of THE FRATERNITY in the SOUTH and because I DID NOT and DO NOT HAVE TO PLEDGE OR FIT INTO ANY FRATERNAL MOLDING/STEREOTYPE!

(2) The fact that IOTA PHI THETA FRATERNITY, INC. is not an easy FRAT to pledge. (HINT:If it was THEN everyone would be joing). Also, because it is not easy wearing thIS BROWN and THIS GOLD.

(3) THE MENTAL PLEDGE PROCESS/RITES OF PASSAGE EXPERIENCE THAT HUMBLES YOU AND PREPARES YOU FOR THE HOSTILE ENVIORNMENT THAT AN IOTA MUST FACE AND ENDURE AS HE OFTEN TIMES FIND HIMSELF BEING RIDICULED AND BEING THE TARGET OF A LOT OF IGNORANCE, POLICIES, RULES, PROCEDURES AND MANY OTHER IMPEDING OBSTACLES THAT WE TRIUPH DAILY AND OVERCOME TO CONTINUE TO GROW THE FRAT.

(4) THE CENTAUR WALK.....(SPEAKS FOR ITSELF AND DOES NOT NEED AN ELABORATE EXPLANATION)

(5) THE COLORS, GENUINE BROTHERHOOD, HISTORY ASSOCIATED WITH ITS FOUNDING, THE FACT THAT 10 OF MY 12 HONORABLE FOUNDING FATHERS ARE STILL LIVING, AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT KNOW, IOTA PHI THETA IS THE ONLY BLACK FRAT WHEREAS ALL 12 OF OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PARTICIPATED IN THE HEART OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. WE WERE THE ONLY FRAT TO ACTIVELY PARTICIAPATE ON A LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND NATIONAL LEVEL IN ENGAGING THE OPRESSED SYSTEMS THAT WORKED AGAINST BLACKS. (WHILE OTHER ORGANIZATIONS RELIED HEAVILY ON INDIVIDUALS TO PROMULGATE THEIR RESPECTIVE ORGANIZATIONS, IOTA PHI THETA WAS DIFFERENT IN THE FACT THAT OUR NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP WERE ON THE FRONT LINES MAKING A LIVING IN THE TRENCHES).

BONUS: WE ARE UNIQUE AND THERE IS NO OTHER BLACK FRAT THAT CAN BOAST OF SUCH VIBRANCY AND CREATIVITY OF I PHI T. BY THE WAY, THE OUTLAW AND MILITANCY PHILOSOPHY THAT IS DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE FRAT'S FOUNDING.

Lets see...5 things I love about Iota...hmmm

1) My husband, my husband, my husband!!!!!
2) I love the slogan "Building a tradition, not resting upon one". That speaks volumes.
3) The Centaur Walk
4) Most Iota men that I have met are nice and sincere and always show love.
5) The founders of Iota were unique in their reasoning for wanting to start a fraternity. That uniqueness lives in Iota today. Iota is definitely one of a kind (and that is a wonderful thing).

* I love the fact that it is impossible to stereotype Iota Men. Like the petals of our official flower, the Yellow Rose, each Brother is different but his uniqueness adds to the beauty of the whole.

* I love the fact that our Founders were (and remain!) bold, iconoclastic individuals who refused to accept failure as an option.

* I love the way my Hymn sounds when it is sung. I defy anyone to attend our Conclave public meeting and not be moved by the power of hundreds of Iota voices in harmony, singing the phrase "We pledge from whence we came, to always be IOTA MEN, and glory in thy name."

* I love the fact that Iota always adds an "X-Factor" to any situation we are in. Like the Hot Sauce on your Grandmomma's greens, we add that Extra Flavor that makes it all complete. Everytime sombody shakes their head and mutters, "Humpf. Must be them Damn Iotas" I smile to myself.

*I love the fact that every time I look at my Shield, I am reminded of the type of Man I made a solemn promise be and the type of life I made a solemn promise to live. Until the day I die.
