Dee,

I am beyond pissed off!!! They didn't even lose that game, it was stolen from them. That goal should have been disallowed...from every angle, there was a clear kicking motion. I really don't know how I didn't break something last night.

Nice to see nothing changes when it comes to the red wings. What the heck happened on that last goal that they gave up? It was a 1 on 3 yet that guy waltzed in alone. They have to get a new goalie for next year. Get rid of Legace and let Ozzie walk and sign Loungo and bring up Howard full time to be the backup.

Even with the bad call on the third goal, it seemed like as soon as Edmonton scored their 1st goal, the Wings stopped playing. They had dominated the ice the first two periods and poof, they were gone. They gave up 3 (or 4 according to the ref) goals in ONE PERIOD.

I was so hoping for a dual Red Wings/Pistons championship. Can you imagine how fun that would have been? <sigh>

Full focus on the Pistons now. Shoot, the Tigers are playing well this season too.

ETA: I walked around depressed and angry all day cuz of those Wings. Tomorrow, we focus on Pistons only

The Stanley cup stays in the South where it belongs. I mean who thinks Canada when they think hockey?

Maybe the Thrashers will get their chance next year.

if Redneck = Canadian I Agree.... if not i suggest the hurricanes remove: team captain Rod Brind'amour, veterans Ray Whitney, Mark Recchi, Cory Stillman, Aaron Ward, Glen Wesley and Craig Adams and young players like Eric Staal, Mike Commodore, Andrew Ladd, Justin Williams and the Conn Smythe winner, Cam Ward.

Oh and just for the record, the Hurricanes play in the RBC Center, RBC stands for Royal Bank of Canada.

Ohmigod, does Vancouver finally have, for the first time in its 37 year franchise history, a star goalie???

Canucks trade Bertuzzi, Auld and Allen for Luongo, Kraijicek and a 6th round draft pick in today's draft.

The rumour of the Canucks picking up Luongo and sending Bertuzzi to FLA has been around for a while now. I am a little upset to see Allen go though, he is an awesome, gritty defenceman.

Here's hoping Luongo doesn't get swallowed by the goalie death trap that appears to exist in Vancouver.

Well aware of all of that. Not a very Southern bunch, quite true, and the Royal Bank of Canada swallowed Centura Bank quite a few years ago -- around here the Royal Bank of Canada is RBC Centura. (RBC Centura/Center. Get it?) I have an account there.

But definitely a team that has been embraced and cheered for both on and off the ice by the locals -- rednecks and transplants alike -- and by the community as a whole. Folks really don't care that the players didn't come from 'round here, anymore than Green Bay Packers fans care if the team isn't from Wisconsin. The locals definitely claim the Hurricanes and consider them adopted locals.

Which is what Redneck Hockey is really a reference to -- the fan base as much as the team.

Arrrrggghhhh!

Oh well, even though we are officially done, one cannot ignore the fact that this was truly a successful season for the Canucks.

If you told any Canucks fan at the beginning of this season that the Canucks would win the NW Division title, place 3rd in the West, make in to the 2nd round of the playoffs, and be nominated for FOUR NHL awards, they would have said pull the other one, it has bells on it.

We thought we might squeak into the playoffs, if we were lucky.

Now we just need to find some offence and grit in the off-season, and then, who knows... the sky's the limit...

My oldest son and Husband are completely obsessed with hockey right now- my son has even decided that we should name his new baby brother Chelios (his first suggestion was Stevie Y). To the point that when he says goodnight to the baby (who will be born in August)- he now says "goodnight baby Chelios". Hope he's not too disapointed when we DON'T name the baby that.

Oh well. I guess since MY team (BlueJackets) didn't make the playoffs yet again, I'll have to root for the RedWings (my husband's team).

One of my co-workers' husband is a hockey nut. They named their son Easton which I think is such a cute name!

I haven't been watching. I'm a bandwagon and usually start watching (and bringing out the jersey) if the Wings are in the Stanley Cup finals.

Oh NO you don't! Cheer against the wings, it's much more fun!

Remember, you are the mother, you give birth, you pick the name. Just don't go with Nikolai and we're good.
