Soooo....
I have to tell everybody about our new GREAT ideas to go along with this. I went to dinner with some of the sisters tonight and we started some more planning and I wanted to share with everyone in case someone comes along and does a search for threads in the future about this....
So, we're going to try to do a series of programs...not a weeklong thing, but maybe 3 different dates scattered throughout the semester. One will be architecture for sure, and the other 2 will be business type people in fields that are popular at our school.
So Since it's going to be a Lecture Serie's, we started brain storming catchy phrases to name the series....and some ideas just sucked. We wanted something that grabbed your attention, something a little cocky, but not so cocky that it was trashy. So since the series is going to be about women in the working field, and how the perception is that it's "a man's world" we decided to name the series "Women On Top: A Woman's Guide to Success in a Man's World."
HAH!!!!!! I LOOOOOOVE IT!
So, we were talking about funding and how to get good PR out around campus, and we think that we can get enough money to get a mass of Tshirts made. Like 150, 200 shirts. So, we're gonna get black tshirts with hot pink writing. The "Women On Top" is going to be on the front and the "A Woman's Guide to Success...." part is gonna be on the back, along with the titles of the individual lectures. And I think on the sleeves, we'll put "Sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta"
AND THEN, since we're gonna try to get a massload of shirts, we're going to give 5 shirts to each of the other greek organizations (including Gamma Phi Beta...because they can benefit from this as well, and it would be awesome if they would help promote PR for greek life in general - because getting women interested in greek life on campus can only help them too, right????), and ask the guys to wear the shirts as PR for us, and especially to wear them on the days of the lectures....Hot pink writing? Come on, what guy would NOT wear a shirt that said "Women on Top"????
With the remaining shirts, we're gonna give them out as prizes at the end of the lecture...so like, after the speaker has finished talking, when we get to the questions segment of it, if a girl wants to ask a question, she can get a shirt as a thank you gift, ... and if nothing else we can just toss them out into the audience at the end of the lecture.
We wanted to put our letters on the shirt, but knew we couldnt let non members wear the letters, which is why we put "sponsored by..." so that way it's technically legal for them to wear it. I think it's an AWESOME idea. I'm super excited about this. Gonna be alot of planning though...arranging the speakers, getting the shirts made, reservations for the Ballroom or theatre in the student center at school....its gonna be great. ;-)
Edit* Does anybody know if you do 3 different lectures does that count as 3 different programs for the semester, or since it will be a series, will it only count as one? Just trying to figure it out, cause we made our semester calendar today, and we've got 2 other program nights planned, but I wasnt sure if we could do those as our lectures or if we had to do different prgrams for the accretitation
