Re: CMU police patrols: this is outrageous

So the ONLY thing that kept 24 other wonderful, qualified, men of high standards from joining DU this year was police patrols? The only reason....hmm, I find that really hard to believe. Especially since (according to the article) the current patrols only started last fall. What happened to DU's NMs last year?

My second question is "What did someone do in order to earn police patrols?" As a college administrator, I'm pretty sure that something was worrying someone so much that they felt this was the solution. Otherwise it's a big waste of time.

And if they patrol 4 times a day...what do they think they are going to find at 10am in the morning (unless it's the remnants of last night's party, which they would have noticed on last night's patrols)?

This is just fascinating....

Screw it, just close the damn school! They are above The Law?

One has to get tired of the High and Mighty Acadameians of the World.

So, the question would be, just who pays the fees for this school. Granted, Grants and donations, but if no students, then what?

I know this is ancient, but fun fact ... 3 out of the 4 houses mentioned here are gone. DU was kicked off like a million years ago; KDR was kicked off at the end of the Spring 09 semester; and Theta Xi was kicked off in early August 2009.

Beta's the only one left, and they've stepped up their risk management significantly more than any other fraternity at CMU--they're the only place I can think of that doesn't let in randoms like crazy, and that doesn't provide hard liquor, even for girls. Then again, they have a policy where if you're obnoxious once, you're off the list forever, and any brother who lets in guests who are rude/visibly intox when they're leaving really gets it.

There's a lot of stuff going on at CMU right now, but to my knowledge the only people in trouble right now are 3/5 NPC sororities. I'm not aware of any NIC fraternities on probation, and the university keeps its distance in many ways from the multi-cultural greek organizations (at least 1 fraternity and 1 sorority of whom BLATANTLY haze, like, not even trying to hide it.)
