Jesus I was very unhappy this year and because of weather didn't go home (and I've cut out processed foods, sugar, and most flour) and I didn't bake you a birthday cake. I'm very sorry.

(no really you guys, I bake a lamb shaped 3-D cake for Christmas and call it Jesus' Birthday Cake, and I sing "Lamb of God you take away the sin of the world, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear Jesus" usually eaten after the candlelight service because it is after midnight and technically Christmas)

I miss singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and getting to eat His birthday cake every year. Yes, my school was weird but at least we got cake.

Ours looked more like this:

Jesus and I had a chat today. He misses the cake, too. He was partial to the red velvet.

We used this pan, and no candles. Candles were used at the Christmas Eve candlelight service, not on the cake.

I knew plenty of kids when I was younger whose families had birthday cakes for Jesus on Christmas or Christmas Eve. After all, the whole purpose of Christmas IS TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF JESUS, CHEERFULGREEK.

I find it pretty stupid to have a birthday cake for a part of the trinity. My mother-in-law does it and every year I find it hilarious. I keep waiting for Jesus to come have a slice. But, he keeps standing her up.

It wasn't something my family did, either, but I think some do it to further drive home the meaning of Christmas to their kids when they're young. They may not understand all the pieces of the Christmas story, or the sermon at church, but they understand the meaning of a birthday cake.

Jesus has good taste. I've always liked red velvet best.
Cheerfulgreek, I'm praying for you.
Tippiechick, if Jesus ever stops by for a slice of your mother-in-law's cake, please PM me. I've invited Him several times and He hasn't joined me yet. Maybe your mil has some tips she'd be willing to share.

When Jesus comes back for some cake, we'll all know.

Oh, dear God. I already know what the meaning of Christmas is and it's purpose. I don't need you to tell me. Celebrating His birth with a birthday cake is stupid and unnecessary, and personally I really don't care how many people you know who do celebrate His birth that way, it's still not going to change my opinion, PEPPYGPHIB.

lol I know, tell me about it.

I think it's pretty rude to have a birthday party for Jesus and then eat all of His cake, not even saving Him a piece. lol

Yep. We'll know when He comes back. And He is coming back, but not for a piece of cake....

Perhaps calling others' choice of means of celebrating the birth of Jesus "stupid and unnecessary" kinda misses the point. Is any celebration of Jesus really "stupid"?

Guess that whole "judge not lest ye be judged" thing was kinda lost on you, eh?

ETA: Aw, hey, look, I found him another cake!
