at times it is good to agree to disagree.

here goes the bleeding heart...

i love debating with people to see how they think and it gives us a chance to express ourselves. We should be able to talk about any topic across this board. i know i get passionate about certain subject matter, but by no means is anything directed to yourself or the professor. i just hate the way the world is because it sometimes causes us to think this way.


now...

regardless of sex orientation or whatever people will talk. if you are considered the Sugar Honey Ice Tea on campus....people will be watching your every move and those that take interests moves, you know longer become an individual...

it's alway the ABC girl kimmeee....or the XYZ boy johnny....not just kimmeee and johnny.

if Xgirl wants to join ABC sorority and someone spread an untrue rumor about her being a whore, would that stop you (not you in particular) but anyone from accepting her if she fulfills the requirements.

or what if Ydude joins XYZ fraternity and he happens to be openly gay, would you believe the rumors that XYZ frat is gay because they let an openly gay man in???

i know sometimes college can be high school all over again, but when will we move past that?

would you not try to find out about the individual???

if so...we might as well bring back the brown bag test.

We are both in the same boat.

I think the reason why XYZ kimmeee and XYZ johnny can't be just Kimmeee and johnny, is the same reason why, once we become a member of our repective organization, we are no longer...treblk..but Delta Treblk and so on.

I am not saying it is right, but that is reality. I remember when my sands and I crossed, my prophyts told us,..Now yall know that everyone will be watching what you do and if you do it, then they will assume we all do it.

I don't know where everyone is from, but where I am from, that is how it was.

Just because "that's how it was" or "that's what I was taught/raised" does not mean that it's right or that it cannot be CHANGED. When I think about our letters and what they mean and why our 22 Visionaries chose them, I find it hard to be comfortable with "that's how it was" if it's no longer right and just.

i remember hearing the same thing as i cross from my propytes.

but then again we must remember we make the organization the organization does not make us.

i was a lesbian when i went in to organization and i still will be to my death, mind you i don't go around hollaring a scream i am a lesbian, tis it is nobodies business.

but i tell you i disagree with people that put their business out on front street, if you know what i mean.

i certainly don't walk around with everyone knowing who i am involved with or who i've sleep with. it's called discretion, people need to use it.

Hey Soror, no I was made in the Farwest, sp 94, and I live in the Eastern region.

And I do agree with everything you have to say. I am not close minded, but my point came from my undergrad days.

There is nothing wrong with your sexual orientation, but when you or others, put your business out there, it makes things harder.

And of course..congrats 12dn94dst on your new position

Well when I was younger I was approached by a homosexual, I did not get mad and curse her out or nothing but I did feel uncomfortable inside, I can't really explain why cause I do not know I just did, I just told her that I was not interested and that I was hetero and she said ok and that was about it, she was really nice about it she was not vulger and I saw no reason to want to curse at her or anything like that........but on the flip side when an brother approaches me he will probably get snapped on quicker than a female because alot of men are so vulger with their approach.......point being if I am not interested in someone whether it is a man or a woman that approaches me I will kindly let them know, but if one is being disrespectful in their approach then I will get upset it doesn't matter what their sexual orientation is.............................
Now as far as not letting someone in an organization because they are homosexual.......Well I am not greek but I do not dig that kind of discrimination regardless of how I PERSONALLY feel about homosexuality, I am not GOD so how can I judge, I mean on a personal level I am not homosexual and I hope that my children do not grow up to be, that is not a diss to homosexuals thats is just how I feel, but if one of them did I would love them the same and I would not want people to mistreat them because of. If a person is gay or lesbian that does not mean they can become a Delta or AKA or Omega or Kappa, or whatever and serve that organization properly....I mean if a woman is a lesbian and she works hard in her sorority to accomplish all the goals they set for themselves then how can she make that sorority look bad? I mean being Black and still facing discrimination alot of times how dare we ever discriminate against our own? A homosexual does not make an organization look bad, but discriminatin against your own does make Black people look bad and it weakens us more as we are already soo weak with lack of unity can we really afford silly things like that..............Of course no one is perfect I am sure we all have prejudices of some kind mine is (as everyone knows) with white people joining Black organizations and dating Black people, maybe that is not the right way to think but I guess all we can do is pray about are imperfections and GROW, LIVE AND LEARN....................
