It almost seemed as if he didn't even try to make his lies believable. Here are just a few of the excerpts of the mountain of crap he tried to feed to everyone:

-he was a member of a 198 member pledge class. Yes, Ole Miss is big. But I would dare say there is a fraternity with over 198 members, let alone a single pledge class.

-Eli Manning (NFL) was supposedly his big brother. I have checked out XYZ's website and there is no indication that Eli Manning was ever a member of THAT group, not to mention being this chumps big bro.

-This XYZ was somehow able to book bands such as Blink182 and Sublime for their average weekend parties. I smell bullisht.

The lies go on and on and because of them, I tend to doubt that this guy was even a member of his alleged fraternity. The website also showed no evidence that he was ever there...but of course that isn't necessarily enough proof to say either way.

As for high school kids wearing letters...that's pathetic. I have heard of high school greek orgs, though mostly sororities.
dude i had a 204 man pledge class and Frederick Southgate Taylor was my big.

His lies were way deep. Funny deep

I perped as a Zeta once. Is that okay?

When I was pledging, I told this one guy I was a Zeta pledge (as in ZTA), and he ASSumed that I was a ZPhiB pledge. I didn't correct him.

Well if he ASSumed you meant ZPhiB, and you didn't, you was not perping. SO YOU'RE SAYING U PERPED YOUR OWN ORG?

We have a few girls come to our house with letters on, saying they were form our UConn chapter.

One of the older girls called her friend, who was part of the UConn chapter and asked about these girls and we found out they were fakes. Needless to say, they didn't stay at our house for long after they were confronted..

When I was like 8 or 9 I told a girl I saw wearing Kappa letters that I was a Kappa. I guess I misunderstood when my mom told me about how I was a legacy. I thought I was already a Kappa even though I had no idea what that meant. How funny that must have been for the girl, she did laugh at me.

well i've got a story i guess, but i'm not greek yet so its not MY org. still...it was kinda obnoxious and upsetting.

my story is about these 3 girls that graduated a year before me. i had them all in a class my junior year and i talked to them the whole year and went to tailgate parties with them and hung out with them occassionally and really liked their personalities. one weekend i couldnt make it to a tailgate party with them because i had previous engagements and they came back with a whole bunch of KD stickers and KD written all over everything they put their hands on and did nothing but talk about how the girls in that certain KD chapter basically told them that in the fall they'd be voted in and didnt have to worry about anything during the week of rush. they were so exited and got shirts that had KD on it and wore them constantly and for the rest of the year thats ALL they talked about was "this weekend at the KD house..." it got on my nerves because i knew that it wasnt right for those girls to tell them they were in MONTHS before graduation. but all 3 of them are sisters now and i'm really happy for them. its not that they were pretending to be something they werent but it kinda fits here seeing as how they considered themselves sisters in advance.

That is SUCH an adorable story. I'm sure the older girls understood what you meant or else they probably just thought you were the cutest little wanna-be Kappa ever. Haha

No fake Gamma Phis yet (it's pretty hard to fake) but there have been quite a few fake other ones....one lady came into my store in a Delta Delta Delta/Sigma Nu shirt, so I asked her where she was a Tri Delta at, and she goes "Oh it's my sisters, but she's the other letters, not that." Her sister is a Sigma Nu? Um, ok.

There are a few girls from my high school that lie about what sorority they're in at UW - like they won't get caught?

I like how people try to be sneaky about where they are greek at, when they just look stupid in the end... but i do get a good laugh at it. It's kinda flattering that people would fake to be what i am. Meh, maybe im just egotistical lol.

one of my friends is a member of a chapter on campus that always ends up catching other people wearing their letters and bid day shirts. i think that their members give them to the good will next to campus and people end up buying them and wearing them around. anyways, she saw a guy once with their letters on at a party and he started yelling "Hey, look at me! i'm an XYZ bee-yotch! i suck!" and being a loud jerk, so she and some guys run over to him and she clocked him right across the face and the guys stripped him of his shirt...not that i think he cared because he seemed to have consumed more than his share of alcohol...so not exactly someone pretending to be a member, but it was still funny

Sadly, yes. Never students, but two who claimed to be alumni.

One individual I met who claimed to be an alumni. I tried to get him signed up for our alumni association and become a Life Member but he was reluctent to do so. When I spoke about this person to another alumni who happened to know him, he knew that this individual had falsely claimed other things about himself. So I called our National Office to verify his membership. No record was found.

Due to this, the alumni association I am with verifies the membership of anyone who wants to join.

Later I met another person who claimed to be an alumni. He atleast was able to give me the handclasp and knew his chapter letters, but following our process, I checked him out. Again, no record. But in this cause what has happened is some chapters that are shutdown keep operating and many people think they members but they aren't because there is no record of them at our National Office. This is sad because these people are not necessarily falsely claiming to be Brothers, but are denied the right to do so because of the chapter they joined was either shutdown or failed to send in their paperwork.

Bottom line, you should be able to verify the membership of such people. They hopefully have membership cards, and you should be able to contact your National Office to verify their membership.
