 The Hockey Song

Hello out there, we're on the air, it's hockey night tonight
Tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice
The goalie jumps and the players bump and the fans all go insane
Someone roars, "Iginla scores!", at the good old hockey game

Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game

 Second period....

Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind
But they grab the puck and go bursting up, and they're down across the line
They storm the crease, like bumblebees! They travel like a burning flame
We see them slide, the puck inside, it's a one-one hockey game

Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game

 Third period....

Last game of the playoffs,Calgary and Tampa Bay...
 Fan in audience: Toronto!
Stompin' Tom: No, they were out of the playoffs this year.

Take me where, hockey players, face off down the rink
And the Stanley cup is all filled up for the champs who win the drink
Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and one gigantic scream
"The puck is in! The FLAMES win!" the good old hockey game

Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game

Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game

Names have been changed to support the Flames

 GO FLAMES GO!!!

It was a good run for Calgary and a good time while it lasted..well we had tough competition with so many Canuck boys on the team
The Cup will come home to visit..and hopefully back to the town where it all started-OTTAWA..

One little cool tidbit that I learned..the founder of my work-The Ottawa Tennis and Lawnbowling Club is Lord Stanley himself!! Cool eh?

It was a fine time at Wayne Gretzky's last night.
The boys certainly were a class act at the end....when they arrived in Calgary this morning at 4am to 400 fans cheering and clapping, many Flames, including big guy Oleg Saprikin (sp?), were moved to tears!

There is a fan appreciation rally tomorrow hosted by the City at Olympic Plaza http://www.calgary.ca/
Here's to a great group of classy guys - we'll see you next year! You made us all proud!

(A moment of respect and pride ! )
