I know Banana Republic and Ann Taylor/Loft work the same way. I've bought most of my wardrobe that way. However, I think anything that makes it to the sales racks at Gap/Old Navy is more likely to be there for good reason.

See to me that just sounds snobbish. Now don't think I'm calling you a snob I don't know you. If you're looking for good suit a good pair of shoes, and clothing item of good quality that you know you will wear and you want it to last then paying full price is not a problem. Good quality items are going to run more expensive.

If you're looking for a pair of jeans to wear t-shirts and sneakers with then why pay a fortune for them. So who cares if you got them off the Old navy sales rack, as long as they aren't stained, or have a ton of whols in them or smell then who cares.
