The guy who washes gas station bathrooms wears that up North.

I'll take class, a slight drawl, and a door held open for me over "attitude" any day. Call me a sucker for a Southern boy...

Izod, Lacoste.....I dont wear em, just making the observation

Almost half of my alma mater's enrollment was Northern, if we're still talking about the Mason-Dixon line and not 'well, its in the North but its not really Northern ' or 'its in the South but I wouldnt consider it Southern '

Class = chump
Drawl = retarded
Souther boy = retarded chump

And any day anyone from the South can take a joke, would be a fantastic day.

For guys in NC, like SC as mentioned above, preppy would be defined as polo shirts, khakis shorts (unfortunately short shorts are becoming a trend ), Crokies and boat shoes or Rainbows. For girls there's a lot more variety, but you'll definitely find Lilly Pulitzer dresses, clothes from JCrew, Vera Bradley bags and Rainbows or Reefs.

And like BrownEyedGirl, I would take class, a Southern accent and manners over "attitude" any day of the week.

And any day that a DAMN YANKEE can actually make a good joke would be a fantastic day. At least we have the good sense not to show off our pasty ass legs while sporting shorts and black socks with sandals. The defense rests, your honor.

And just for the record...I was accepted to MIT, Yale, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford (among many others). Where did I go? The University of Alabama.

Good call! It's all about location and where you are happiest!

For the record, I don't have a clue what Lacoste is or crokies or rainbows are...and I thought Reefs went out of style years ago! As for Vera Bradley, her stuff reminds me too much of something my mom would carry around with her, so I'm not into that either.

I must be a loser because I shop for my work clothes at Limited, Express and Ann Taylor Loft (occasionally I'll find something in the regular Ann Taylor). My casual clothes come from the Gap, Limited, Express, AE and Abercrombie. But I don't consider myself to be a prep, so maybe that's why I'm perfectly happy with what I wear.

at least we have Sweet Tea

boys in NC wear lots of polo, JCrew type brands, and recently I have seen alot of those Alligators shirts.
I have never seen anyone but old men wearing Izod.

Girls on my campus have been dressing (especially since we're having a warm spell) in short skirts or bathing suits under there clothes. not my fav look, but they can pull it off.

By the way the south rocks, and I don't claim Bush as a southern!!

Black socks and sandals are definitely a bad fashion statement. I proudly sport my pasty ass legs, lol!

This thread is cracking me up. If you guys haven't done so, read The Official Preppy Handbook.

This is correct.

The word in the South is "network". Many, MANY people make their "selection for connection". It's all about what the future holds for that individual especially if nepotism is the future.

You're kidding, right?

If someone wears a state flag (or any flag ) belt up here, he will be called a hoosier* and rocks will be thrown at him.
