I sent you a PM about the current badge in question, but to address it in general...
I personally try to not outbid my sisters, unless it is an item I very much want in my heart and am willing to pay ($$$) for. Otherwise, I try to hold back. I only just learned that I could contact IO and ask about the badges they have for sale. Before that, I had bid a lot on a sapphire and gold badge, failed to win, but still, I know I was bidding against sisters.
To me, this is a question that each person can really only answer. What type of person are you (I mean you generally, not you specifically)? Are you out to win everything at all costs, and don't mind who gets stepped on? Or is it a case of you being someone willing to step aside for another's sake, and you are just bidding up a specific item because you truly want it? The first person is someone I would feel badly for, that maybe they cannot appreciate the bonds of sisterhood. The second is someone I would be happy to call my sister, knowing that we would each put the other first whenever we could, but still able to tell the other when something is important to one.
I know this does not really answer your question, but it was the best I could do.

Does anyone know what pins you can buy from IO? What stones you can still order from IO? Please let me know as soon as y'all can!

My understanding is that IO has many different badges, inventory is based on what they receive, either from estates, sisters have a bunch and don't want them, or whatever. They find their way to IO, and IO sells them at a good price to sisters. You would have to call to find out what they have now. I only just learned about it myself, so I plan to call IO and see what they have as well. I still want a sapphire one, and I hear that the prices are better than on e-bay.

That second one is amazing! I hope that a ZTA ends up with it!

OH.MY.GOD.
The second one is amazing! Thankfully, zta1806 has it right now.
I'll keep my eye on it in case a non-ZTA bids on it. I'm just kind of poor since I'm already bidding on a Burberry scarf (PLEASE let me get it!!!).

I hope I get it too. I can only pray that at the ending of the auction, my 2year old niece does not have a fit getting to bed. She really likes her "Auntie" to take care of her when we are on vacation.

Dear Zeta sisters,
There is currently a badge on ebay that I am going to purchase as a gift for a dear friend. I have been looking for one of these badges for many, many years since it is her birthstone. I just wanted to let you know that this is quite a different case from my usual procedure of bidding just to see if I can snag it to "rescue" it.
I rarely bid against a sister (if I am aware that it is a sister) and I am sincerely hoping that this won't be the exception to my own rule but I will apologize in advance if that is the case.

Yes, I have. I still feel guilty about something that might not even happen but Cindy is worth it. She saw what I was doing for her and is crossing her fingers.
She will be moving to Colorado to join her husband as soon as she can sell her house here and pack up. I met her when she moved to Dallas from Memphis a few years ago and we instantly clicked. She has given a lot to the Dallas Night chapter and everyone is going to miss her. On the bright side, we'll get to visit her in Telluride. We're already planning a Zetas Only weekend getaway to see her.

That's my birthstone, too. It will be very good to see that Cindy gets this badge. It truly is beautiful. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks!
Purple is my favorite color even if amethyst is not my birthstone. I would have bid on it for myself if Cindy didn't want it. I may just take one of my pearl ones and have amethysts put in instead. (I have a white gold with pearls that is missing a pearl and needs cleaning so that is a good candidate.) I suggested that to her, since she has also bought a couple of badges off of Ebay, but she said it would be more fun to "rescue" it.
From what I can tell, MaryMag123 is a Gamma Phi Beta and/or pin collector. KSP2774 is on the list of Zeta bidders though.
