I'm positive that USC doesn't require white dresses for Bid Day but you would need one if you do end up joining a house for Presents (which is a day where new members are presented to the house and their families) and USC's Presents is quite dressy. We are talking full-length white dresses...Good Luck at USC although I am from the school across town and an arch enemy!

A white dress and a black dress are both useful for a sorority woman-- some might require it for a meeting, or a ritual, etc.

Well I was going to tell you to take a look at Chole173s rush thread because she rushed at USC and received a bid to Alpha Delta Pi... Chole's Rush seems she deleted her actual posts to the thread but it still may be helpful. GOOD LUCK USC is such a fun cool school and the orgs' houses are beautiful I'm sure you'll have a good time !

Just to clarify, make certain this is a SOLID white and a SOLID black dress - no prints, buttons/buckles or colored trim.

Is it true that people send in resumes now to loads of different sororities so they can get an early grasp of what you're about??

Depends on the school. I know that at Ole Miss, a lot of my friends who joined houses sent in recommendations. It's more of the exception than the majority. According to USC's website, you don't need recommendations. Depends on the system, though. There are only four sororities at my school and there's not 400 PNMs going through, so it's a bit easier.

I've seen it mentioned on here before... but I've also seen I think more recommendations against it... It may simply be overkill for USC. Recs are a different issue, but even they are used more at some schools than others, legacies ('my mother was an XYZ here' etc) at USC are a possibility, yes so a rec could well help but resumes are more unusual and of course lead to preconceptions which're sometimes good things sometimes not. I would suggest as far as resumes specifically, skip them and if any forms you have to fill out to rush etc are supplied just fill those in as best you can instead. Good luck .

You don't need to do this for USC recruitment.

When you register for recruitment, you'll most likely have a registration form with a section on your grades, major, year in school and previous activities.

When you're filling our your registration form for recruitment, make sure you're honest about your extracurricular involvement and GPA, etc. But this form serves as sort of a resume, so make it look neat, and have a friend look over it before you send it in. This is the time to "sell" yourself on paper-- show off your attributes and involvement.

Also, anyone who writes a recommendation for you must send it directly to the sorority for you. You don't need to send anything into the sororities.

So kick back, relax, buy some new clothes, practice your "interview" technique, get some recs, surf the net to learn about the sororities .... and get ready for recruitment!
