I have another question for the experienced. What are good dance clubs that are 21+? I'm a little weirded out by dancing with 18 year old boys (or even worse- a 16 year old with a fake ID!)

Truthfully, I've never been to a real dance club in N.O. I am usually too drunk to dance. We usually end up shaking it at the Cat's Meow, but it's not a dance club. This is a question for the locals.

Honestly, I have no clue about dance clubs. It's funny, when you grow up around the city, you tend to avoid all the tourist stuff like the FQ. There are some trashy clubs out in Metairie (suburb of NOLA), but you don't want to haul out there for that. If you stay in the touristy areas of Bourbon, etc., I'm sure you'll find something.

I'd say if you do find one of these it'll be trashy and it is likely that you will be groped by gross people.

Basically, anywhere you go will be nasty. The majority of dance clubs are 18+, and besides the drunken college studens (who are actually a minority), there are drunken tourists. I did hear about a drunk Britney Spears at 360, though.

I'm from NOLA, born and raised...anyway, I never hung out in the Quarter because well, that's what the tourist do...but I do have some great bars to go to that are Uptown...

1. Madigan's on South Carrollton Ave
2. Fat Harry's on St. Charles Avenue
3. The Boot on Broadway
4. F & M's
5. The Column's on St. Charles Avenue
6. Friar Tucks on Feret
7. Carrollton Station on Willow
8. Circle Bar at then end of St.Charles Ave on Lee Circle (little hole in the wall my friends and I found one night)


And of course, Cats is awesome for singing till the sun comes up! And don't forget about Liuzza's for good food and a cold beer. (http://nola.com/sites/liuzzas). My parents also like The Rivershack on River Road. Oh and if you want some good seafood go to Sid-mar's in Bucktown by the Lakefront on Orpheum. Also, if you want to do something fun go to Mid City Lanes' Rock & Bowl, my friend's family owns this place and it is awesome if there is a band there. And Mother's Restaurant
on Poydras has good poyboys. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Quick warning-The Boot, Tuck's, Madigan's, and Fat Harry's are really popular college bars. Do -not- go to Tuck's on a Saturday night!
