Oh and Jazbri, I'm with you on the potatoes in the face scene. For some reason I just knew they would throw that one in there.

I DIDN'T READ THE BOOK, SO I CAN'T REALLY COMPARE THE MOVIE TO IT. IT DID GO PRETTY SLOW IN THE BEGINNING. I AGREE W/ALL OF THE COMMENTS ABOUT THE REFRIGERATOR SCENE (WHEW).
I DID FEEL AS THOUGH AFTER WESLEY'S CHARACTER CURSED HER OUT AT THE CHAKA KHAN CONCERT OVER THOSE TICKETS, SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE A LITTLE MORE THAN COME HOME AND SAY "I'M SCARED" AND FALL INTO HIS ARMS

It was oooooooooooooooook. The book was far better. After it was over,I started thinking about how it seems that love just isn't enough.

my girlfriend saw it, it was aight she said, lol, i'm sorry but i can't see Wesley in a love interest with a black woman and i don't think he can either so maybe that's why the chemistry was not there. anyway the book was good.

Positively, I feel you on that one. Everytime he spoke, I was like "how can he play this role. I thought the movie was O.K too. I couldn't dig Wesley as "Franklin", but I thought Sanaa Lathan did an outstanding job (she's so versatile - I loved her in Love & Basketball). I'm thinking the girl that plays her friend is Regina Hall, but I'm not sure. I still remember her as "Candy" in "The Best Man".
Anyway ladies, you know what they REALLY needed was Morris Chestnut as Franklin.

Ok, I am late to this discussion, becuase the cable co. turned off my FREE Cable (waves travel through air, and air is free, why should I pay)?
Anyways, I kinda liked the movie. I think that Wes Snipes did an OK job. He is a better actor than that, but I really like Sanaa. Not just becuase I have wanted her to be Mrs. MN since I saw her in the Best Man or becuase she said she likes dark skinned bald men in the movie, but because she is a very good actress, and I have been impressed with her last 3 movies. I was a little dissapointed with how the story was told, the book was way better, but I don't see enough people my age, and my race in a loving relationship on screen or on TV. If we had a Love Jones or Love & Basketball every few months it would be kool. But if it is a movie about black folks, and no one gets shot and killed, it's not about drugs, the police, or a movie that is pure comedy, I tend to like it.
Plus, I would have loved to of been Wes's stunt double for the love scenes.
Peace
MN

I just thought I'd pull this back up to the top.
The video/DVD is being released tomorrow (@ Sam Goody stores, it might be out elsewhere). I liked the movie, so I will be purchasing it.
*Ideal08 is on her way to the music thread to talk about the soundtrack... come with me...*

I have read Disappearing Acts like 3 times and while the movie did not meet every expectation, I will say that it was a more honest portrayal than Waiting to Exhale.
I will buy it as well especially since when I thought I taped it, it did not work
