Very excited! I'm going to bring along my badge collection for anyone who wants to see them. Us 'pinhead' collectors are getting together at the beginning of the month, so maybe I'll have a few more special ones as well!

I'll also have my badges to sell. Right now I think I have about 7 or so that I'm willing to part with so if anyone is interested.....

see you all there!

And Katy has a very SPECIAL new addition to her collection to show off! I think it is an 1877 badge from Epsilon chapter (Wooster College, 1875-1913)

Definitely! Just FYI, this is the College of Wooster in Wooster Ohio. From our history, it looks like at least the national GLOs were banned in 1913, which is why the Theta chapter there closed. I know there are several locals there now. I wonder if any of them were once affiliated with a national?

For those of you going to Convention later on this week, I hope you all have a wonderful time. I was planning on going until I got a new job a few months ago and then lack of vacation time made it impossible. Hopefully I'll get to go in 2006.

We want the Convention news!

So, anybody got a minute to tell us about the Convention? What kinds of exciting things went on?

I'm sure Katy will have additions to this:

The Convention was one of the nicer ones I've attended: the resort (both facilities and staff) were just incredible, the sessions ran smoothly (and on time, even ending early!), Thetas of all ages were thoughtful and honest in debating legislation, the final banquet was lovely (as always).

The highlight for me was hearing Maureen Syring speak at the Panhellenic Luncheon. Maureen is a former Grand President and NPC delegate of Delta Gamma (and I believe also a former chair of NPC). If you ever get a chance to hear her speak, do it. Her talk was a great combination of from-the-heart passion about the benefits of Greek life, no-holds-barred honesty about where we all can improve, hilariously told anecdotes about enlightening Greeks and non-Greeks in random airport encounters, and inspiring yet straight-forward challenges to her audience to uphold what we say we are.

If anyone wants to know the outcome of any particular legislation, pm me. I don't think it's that appropriate to post it here publicly.

The following members were elected to Grand Council:
Fraternity President: Karen Albrecht Ledbetter, Gamma Tau/Tulsa
Fraternity VP College: Kathleen Markey, Chi/Syracuse
Fraternity VP Alumnae: Debbie Bornmann Allen, Delta Theta/Florida
Fraternity VP Education: Katie Busby Morrow, Epsilon Zeta/Ole Miss
Fraternity VP Finance & Facilities: Lyn Stewart Simensen, Gamma Gamma/Rollins
Fraternity VP Membership: Amy Hayner Kates, Alpha Phi/Tulane
Fraternity VP Public Relations: Carole Frankovich Brophy, Alpha Nu/Montana

I'm still catching up on sleep.

And I can't believe I forgot to mention this:

This was the first Convention since the changes in the alumnae program. I believe there were over 120 alumnae chapter delegates at Convention - this is amazing! It was great to see so many former clubs and brand-new alumnae chapters represented as full participating delegates.

Theta for a lifetime!
