Since Sister Havana told me to . . .
I figured I should pipe up here!
Name: Beth
Chapter/School: Theta Tau (UT Arlington)
Pledged: Spring 1991 (I think -- so long ago it all blurs together!)
Offices I've Held: None because I got married and quit school *laugh*
Why I Joined APO: Philanthropy, friends, fun, something to keep me out of trouble
Anything Else: I returned to school in 2005 -- to the University of North Texas. UNT has a much bigger APO chapter than UTA had had (as I believe Theta Tau is not active now) -- but in order to become active they basically told me I had to transfer my membership and essentially "re-pledge" (with their chapter -- not that I would *be* a pledge, but I would be regarded as such for a semester). I'm not sure if that was entirely accurate, but it was what I was told. I opted instead to retain my alum status with Theta Tau and joined a local spirit & service group instead for this 2nd time around in school.

Welcome!
Yes, Theta Tau is inactive, but I think that there is the beginnings of a rechartering effort there (mostly due to glitches in the chapter listing software at the National Website that I think I understand.
As for UNT's policy, I believe that is within the rules, they get to vote on accepting transfers and having a semester of learning about chapter traditions (and getting a chapter Big Brother might be another) I think is acceptable. The chapter I was active in (Kappa @ Carnegie-Mellon) didn't do it.

Hi Naraht!
That's awesome about Theta Tau -- it always seemed odd to me that UNT has always had such a large chapter, while UTA struggled (and then went inactive).
I knew UNT was within bounds I just couldn't fathom going through it all again! *laugh* I'm 34!

Yup. You may want to contact the Regional director and ask about Theta Tau. I understand, there was a proposed by-law amendment at one point to allow older (>30) year olds to be advisors as Undergrads. Didn't pass though.

Welcome my brother!
I saw one brother with about the same about of time as a brother as an undergrad start a chapter as a graduate student. All of the same opportunities after graduation no matter how long you were active!

Greetings,
Name: Dominic Goodman
School: Johnson C. Smith University
Chapter: Delta Phi
Office: Dean of Pledges
Why I joined APO? I joined APO because of the fact that this was a new organization that came onto my campus and I wanted to learn more about it. Fall 2002 was when I attended the original interest meeting along with a few others. Since then, we have all performed service, displayed leadership, and brought amongst us some of the best friendships that you will ever see. Now, on this day, Sunday, February 29, 2004, we are officially rechartered as the Delta Phi Chp. of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, incorporated.

Hey All,
Its time for me to post on this one, and be seen!!
Name: Sequoyah (#2 Hyper)
School: Johnson C. Smith University- Delta Phi Chapter
Petitioned: Fall 02-Spr 04 "Yeah it took 2 years"
Offices held: Service VP, Assistant to Dean of Pledges, Alumni Coordinator
Why I Joined APO: I was so curious about a Fraternity that had women in it, and I went to the interest meeting that was held on campus. Once I learned of the rich background that the Delta Phi Chapter had and what the organization was about, I was like "I'm down, lets get this thang started!"
Anything else: I just want to say "thank you" to all the chapters that were there for JCSU's Petitioning group through this long process, as well as those (you know who you are) that kept many of us grounded and informed about the Brotherhood!

Currently part of the NYC Metropolitan Alumni Association
Offices held: Pledgetrainer and Vice President of Membership
Why I joined APO? I wanted to join an organization that didn't just talk about service but actually did it. I loved the diversity of APO and the enthusiasm that everyone had about Beta Iota and the organization as a whole.
Anything else: I LOVE Beta Iota!
