New jeans...

Wow after reading this thread I'm glad that I'm plus-sized and don't have to worry about having the hottest "it" jeans.

I get my jeans from Rampage and Guess... I have gotten so many compliments on many of my pairs of jeans from Rampage. I also recently got these jeans that fit me perfectly from Nordstrom.

I am generally a fan of GAP jeans because they are sturdy and keep their shape well. I can also find the correct length there. The only problem is, they sometimes literally "gap" in the back because I am petite and do not have ANY junk in my trunk Low rise styles have been a God-send because of that!

In general, I try to buy clothing that has an inconspicuous label or NO LABEL because I am not into brand-dropping. So other than fit and durability, the lack of a label or signature pocket stitch on the bootay is something I look for

Anyway, I am going jeans shopping as soon as my husband gets home so I will let you know if I have any success. I have become a way less successful shopper since I moved away from my family. I need motherly or sisterly approval because I am indecisive!

I don't know what Rudey is talking about because Sevens are still alive and well here in LA and let me tell you no UCLA or USC sorority girl is going to be caught wearing anything that is out of fashion (like the Juicy Couture warm-up suits or the "Return to Tiffany" tag jewelry...sorry I guess that should be in my superficial post ).

Unforunately for my parents and most recently myself, my tastes run on the expensive side and I am a true designer jeans connoisseur. I love Miss Sixty (an off-shoot of Italy's Diesel Jeans), Seven, Paper and Cloth, and Frankie B. jeans. Honestly, I had the hardest time finding jeans until I tried a pair of Miss Sixty while studying abroad and I've been hooked ever since. The great thing about these jeans is that they make really funky, cute styles and they are SOOO LONG which is great if you have giraffe legs like me.

I agree that $150 dollars is a lot to spend on jeans when I really look at it but they last forever which is great since I wear them almost everyday, even to work as an teacher.

Yes! Along with those Tiffany tag bracelets and necklaces like TriDeltaGal said. That's why I think it's so important to buy clothing that is more classic than trendy as styles constantly change. If you're going to spend $150 on something, make sure it's something you can wear for years to come. That is why I never invested in the Tiffany tags or the Juicy track suits (or any of the expensive hair straightners like the Chi or Blue Sapphire....I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $17). I knew all these things would be out after a year. When you buy your jeans, make sure they're stylish and fit you well but also make sure they're a brand that has been around for years and has always been trendy. That's why I love Guess?, Calvin Klein, Theory, or French Connection.

Aw, I can only wear the Levi's superlows because I am so very short and have a short waist and curvy hips. I also have a thing about pants hitting my belly button, so the levis are perfect for me. But usually Gap works well. and I so Love Lucky Jeans, but can't usually find my size. I despise jean shopping-Size 7's in short are almost impossible for me to find!! Maybe I should try some websites-anyone else have my problem? Short waist, curvy hips, size 7 and short????????If so and you know of a good website let me know!!

Extremely UNtrendy person alert!

I'm in that weird area between regular size and plus size. I can buy things from either, albeit higher sizes of misses and lower plus.

That said, I love Levis and Lee jeans...I also like Venezia jeans from Lane Bryant. But the most comfortable and consistently good-fitting jeans for me, oddly enough, are Genuine Sonoma Jeans Company, the store brand from Kohl's. Plus they're cheap.

I love Miss Sixty. I've never heard that they were an offshoot of Diesel (which I also love), but maybe that explains something. Living in Italy allowed me to buy Diesels and Miss Sixty jeans for about $45 American--considering I've worn my Diesels once a week for the past year and a half, it's been worth it. Plus, I have wide flat hips, and those jeans seem to fit me best considering my height.

I buy clothes so rarely that I don't mind spending a lot if I know it will last for a long time.

7 was out of fashion for a while. Check out Fred Siegel around by you. Great stuff. The kids in Powell will think you're cool.

Actually, its Fred Segal, not Fred Siegel ...and yes it is a great store but I only shop there when I can get an employee discount (a friend works there) or at their yearly fall sale. It is generally way too expensive even for me. Oh and by the way, they still sell Seven jeans there...I actually bought my last pair there ironically.

Don't know where you got your information but we here in L.A. must have fell off of the fashion train because Sevens are still very popular in the college/mid-twenties crowd here. I see them in every bar or club party from Sunset to Newport Beach. Now, if you are saying that they are out because they are becoming slightly more mainstream (they sell them at Nordstroms now), then that is a whole other situation. But quite honestly, I coulod care less if it is a "Fashion Go or a Fashion No" because they are super comfortable.

ETA: By the way, Powell is our library...and I promise you we are not having couture fashion shows while studying for a Physics midterm or while writing a History paper. No one is dressed to impress in there, even at a school like UCLA
