I began watching it during summer reruns and got hooked. I watch every week now although I missed last night's episode.

Question Last Night's Episode

Did anyone see last night's episode of Girlfiends? if so....

Do you think Joan was right to "cover" after what Mya (sp?) did to her?

Do you think Mya was wrong to leave Joan hangin' like she did?

Red face Who in the hell left the gate open

I saw last night's episode.

Joan was not morally right to cover for Maia, but we do things like that for our girlfriends. Even if we may disagree with what they are doing or how they are doing it. Most women will not leave their friend hanging.

Maia was wrong to let Joan be cursed out by Darnell like that, but what was she going to say,
"OH, Joan didn't give me this $1500 watch. This man that I'm ready to CRANK gave it to me."?

My sister pointed out something to be about this show. Do you think they are trying to get rid of the blue collar workers on Girlfriends?

Darnell, Maia's husband - She is having an affair with this man (his name escapes me right now) in every way but physically. Is this this beginning of the end of her marriage to Darnell so she can have a white collar husband/man?

Yvonne, the cop who is engaged to the black lawyer (can't remember his name either) had to quit her job. Can't be a cop married to a lawyer.

These are the only two blue collar folks on the show who have reoccuring rolls.

Anyway, Maia is lucky to have a boss and friend like Joan.

HC I'm talking like these are real people?

Girlfriends...

There is no way that Joan should have stood there "BUG-EYED" while Darnell called her a Bi#$H!! !! Now, that is true friendship because my lips would have parted and told it all!! Then to buy all that stuff to cover for her!! Like I said, that is true friendship because that wouldn't have been me.

Girlfriends is probably the only show I watch on a weekly basis. the reason why the black male lawyer (i can't remember his name either) wants yvonne, his fiancee, to quit being a cop is because she was shot while on duty. Personally, I would want my man to quit if he was hurt too. BUT, I wouldn't put an ultimatum on him like he did her.

As for last nights episode, I would have had to put both Mya and Darnell in check. How dare Mya put Joan in a position like that? She knew Darnell didn't like Joan and if Darnell called me a
BI@$% at my job....I would have had to pull him to the side and read, write, and erase him.

The guy Mya is seeing is Stan, and the black lawyer is William.

Mya was straight wrong for putting Joam in that position, and I would have straight busted her with Darnell if he called me out of my name, and on my job no less, please give me a break.

No it was a new episode.
Joan was tryingto get her boss to close her law firn for the King Holiday.
Maya is still seeing STan, and almost kissed him if William had not walked in on them.
William bought a house without discussing it with his fiance' her name escapes right now. They went through a thing were she was like he takes her for granted and doesn't want her to have or be a part of any decisions that they make.

I think that was it, it was a good episode Ideal, hope you catch it on a rerun.

Cool I need to get back into this show

I need to get back watching "Girlfriends." Monday Night Football is my usual must-see TV and takes precedence during the fall.

Touching on something in the original post, I liked Ms. Dilday's take on how William is presented as a sympathetic character. Nothing wrong with a kind of square brotha -- they may make better boyfriend or husband material.

I don't mean to be picky but... I think they should have at least ONE full figured black woman. Don't get me wrong, it's a good show and we, as african americans, don't really have alot of programming to choose from but, I think the show would be a little more realistic (for me) if there was someone that looked a little more like me.

Ok, so you know I'm ticked, right? lol, I can't believe I missed a NEW episode!!! ARGH! I hope I catch it on a rerun, too, lol!

Ok, so tell me this, because I missed a lot of the Stan stuff, I think. Mya's never kissed him??? So they haven't been intimate? See, I JUST saw the show where they met or whatever last week, and my chronology of the episodes is all off. I wish I could get it on tape like the SITC tapes.

What's up with Lynn? Is she still dating the Jamaican dude? What happened to him??

I agree with you! I think that they did really well with diverse personality types, skin tones, hair textures, education, all of that. The ONLY thing that they missed is body types. They are all the same body type. But I never said anything about it because I felt like they did such a good job making everything else diverse. But since you brought it up, lol, I agree!!

I definitely give kudos to the production team! Lord knows, we need more positive programming, especially black women! But, I'm saying... can we get at least one big-boned sista out there!

I still watch the show though!
