The thing about Britney is that she still is very young. I know that there are a lot of us out there who did equally stupid things when we were her age, and at least we can be thankful that the media wasn't following us around. As MereMere said, I think that celebrities that whine about their lack of privacy are lame because that's one of the things that you have to deal with when you decide to become a star. But I also think that we should cut them at least a little slack because I think most of us realize that it WOULD be hard to deal with really private issues in front of the cameras.
Granted I am a Britney fan, but part of the reason I am a fan of hers is because I think she's so easy to relate to. And honestly, I don't think there's anything she's done that the average American girl wouldn't have done exactly the same way in the same situation. Like, in the Madonna kiss situation -- all reports say that it was basically Madonna's idea, and Britney was like, "Ummm, okay." Let's say you're working with with your idol, who happens to be a twenty year icon of the music industry. You aren't really the gutsiest person, so if she suggests something, are you really going to say, "No, I think that's a bad idea"?
I'm not saying that people shouldn't criticize her, because she's definitely done some stupid stuff. The problem that I see, though, is that people's expectations of her have always been way too high. It was like, as soon as she came out onto the music scene, everybody expected her to be this symbol of what our generation was about. She was expected to be the perfect daughter, the girl next door, America's sweetheart, sexy without being trampy, and a whole bunch of other things all rolled into one. And everytime that she failed to live up to their expectations she'd get bashed. I know tons of people who were/are disappointed in Britney for drinking and smoking and having sex, when they wouldn't bat an eyelash upon finding out that their local junior class president, honor roll cheerleader was doing the same thing . . . and I think that's sad.

So I was mad I missed the interview, but I got to see it because one of my friends taped it! I do like Britney... not so much for her singing, but because she is a good performer. While I don't like when she lip syncs (and I didn't really get her answer to Diane Sawyer's question about her lip syncing), I do like her songs.

I dont know I saw bits and pieces of this interview since I was hanging out with some friends but it was on at the time. i mean I know shes had it rough but shes gotta expect that and I feel bad for some things but alot she put out on the table herself and shes gotta be ready for what people will say. Like with Christina she never tried to play the perfect good girl thing she NEVER claimed to be a virgin had Britney not either it would never have been a big deal when all of a sudden she wasnt. I dont think that just b/c youre famous that your sex life needs to be public knowledge. I like alot of things that she had done like the Britney Spears Foundation I believe that is an amazing thing. I dont like her that much as a vocalist b/c I dont think shes that great but as a preformer she is awesome I will give her that.

Ok, this always ticks me off. Britney said she was a virgin when she was 16 or 17. Now she's 21. After Justin spilled to everyone they had, both admitted it was after a year or two into the relationship. That means about 10 or 20. Well, guess what people a lot of people were virgins when they wre 16 and by age 20 weren't! Get over it!! I mean I had a best friend for years in middle school who said she'd never do drugs. Freshmen year in high school she od'd.
And about being to controversial, do you remember when "hit me baby one more time" came out. Everyone threw a fit b/c of her outfit. And now they say, "she was so innocent back then" - when?? WHen the critics were yelling at her b/c of her school girl outfit?
I think people are way to critical of her, and like she says if you don't like her turn it off. Sorry, but that always gets on my nerves when people say those two things.

Her skin turned all blotchy and her eyes were bright red w/ tears streaming down her face.

Yeah, what was up with that? Like I can feel her pain, but does she have to make it all dramatic?! Weird.
