Aww, it sounds like your gym classes would be fun! All I remember from my elementary school gym classes was our scary (female) teacher seemed very, very, angry at the world

Go get them, tiger!
lol

i coulda used that whip this afternoon.

The 4th graders weren't bad at all.

the 6th graders, which is a class that is notorious for being bad wasn't as bad as usual. Course, maybe it's cuz one of em stole my CD's out of my office last week and i got the school Tribal Police Officer to go down to their homeroom and bust some heads.

The seventh graders just quit on me. Didn't want to do anything. Half of em just walked off the field and sat down. I think when they've got class next week i'm just gonna run off a bunch of packets and when they show up, give em a packet and tell em to hit the bleachers and start working on it. If they ask why i'm gonna say, "well, its either the activity for the next 2 weeks(ultimate frisbee) or book work and tuesday y'all didn't seem too interested in ultimate frisbee"

Does everyone remember the physical fitness tests we had to do back in the day?!? How many situps you could do in a minute, the mile run, sit and reach, and my personal favorite ( ) hanging from the bar! Do kids these days still have to do all that?

Congrats AggieSigmaNu361!! It sounds like youre doing a great job!

Kitso, sounds like you're an awesome PE teacher. I can just picture you with the kindergarteners

I hated PE. Had a PE teacher in elementary school who refused to give anyone a grade higher than C.

I remember those physical fitness tests... I also remember that it was part of the "President's Physical Fitness Program" or whatever it was called. That was the only thing I had against Reagan...

Hey, here's an idea for the 7th graders. During my senior year of high school, my HS changed the gym program to include a "wellness unit" for the frosh/sophs. For about 4 weeks, they met in a classroom instead of the gym, talked about things like the importance of a lifetime of eating right and exercising, and had homework and tests. If the 7th graders keep acting up, how about threatening them with a wellness unit?

361 times I wish someone as cool as Kitso had been the PE teacher at my school

Don't let the little ankle-biters get you down. The teeth marks will heal in time.

Only time I ever really got into big trouble in school was in junior high school PE.

No, do be that guy.

I am working with some of the kids at my school now and you HAVE to have your boundaries set immediately or they will walk all over you.

The first day I worked with them I tried being nice and that got me nowhere. I came in the next day with the benefit of my Mother's 20+ years of teaching advice to take no shit and that day got RESULTS. Not only did they actually listen, they had a lot more respect for me when they knew I wasn't going to take shit from them.

Plus I brought cookies, lol. Those who do good work WILL be rewarde when they work with me.

Don't be hatin'. I loved those things. I was a queen at flexed arm hang and wall sits/squats. But, I'm with you on that 600 yard dash.

Yeah, the Presidential Physical Fitness test. I never got it cuz i always sucked at pull-ups. pull-ups are hard for a husky little boy

I'm actually thinking that i'm gonna do this in the spring semester. Start with a pre-test to see where they're at, then maybe spend part of class time every day doing situps, pushups, pull ups, etc. At the end of the semester we'll retest and see how much everyone improved.

Gotta see if i can find a website with this on it now

Kitso

Make them do it or tell them they'll fail if they don't and you will call their parents. These kids might need some one to talk to. Make them run laps. Run with them. Coach football? Yeah, you should be the football coach. Just don't look at the cheerleaders, you'll get fired.

Sounds like you have the makings of a fantastic teacher.

361 shades of red Kitso's going to turn the first time a girl whips out the "I can't run, I have cramps" excuse.
