I'm sure it was never a teachers' college. Miami was founded long before anyone had thought about teachers' colleges; it was just an all-male, liberal arts state-supported college . . . and the home of the Miami Triad.

OKAY, name the Miami Triad!

Most of the OLD LINE Greeks started at the Eastern or Southern Schools. Actually, Ohio (considered somewhat Eastern) was not considered part of the Old West Schools as in they were cowboys and un-notiice or recognized at the time. (Union Triad) where the Greeks of that group are still very small and do not want to expand very much to this day!

The so called old line Fraternitys in the 50-60s did not want to expand, the LXA and TKE Greek Organizations, decided it was to their benefit to do so.

The largest merger in Greek History was LXA, started at old line big schools and TKN, who was helped by LXA on smaller schools, Religious Affiliated and State Schools. The two Fraternitys Merged in 1939 and expanded greatly across the USA!.

Talks had been in progress with TKE and LXA, but did not work out, TKN did.

STG while started in Warrensburg, Mo. seems to be the one I have seen that has expanded to larger schools more so that any others!

E C, correct me if I am wrong!

Side Bar, John Laws and I are going to meet for lunch the 24 th! Looking forward to it!

Miami Triad:

Sigma Chi
Beta Theta Pi
Phi Delta Theta.

Problem came from split of Sigma Chi from DKE.

the school i went to right after high school was tiny, smaller than my high school was; it was in north carolina, outside of charlotte; when i was there, there were only two sororities- tri-sig and chi-o; is chi-o usually at smaller schools too? they now have three sororities on campus, the third being alpha xi delta

No, not always. Lyon College in Batesville, AR has Kappa Sigma but no Chi-O. I think they only have Alpha Xi and Phi Mu for the sororities.

This has been discussed before too, but even though some fraternity members have helped found NPC sororities, in no case is there a national NPC-IFC sister-brother fraternity situation. I know that a Kappa Sigma did help found Chi Omega... Dr. Richardson I believe...???

Dr. Charles Richardson, a member Kappa Sigma, is indeed one of the five founders of Chi Omega. However, this does not make Kappa Sigma the brother fraternity of Chi Omega, and it does not mean there is a Chi Omega wherever there is a Kappa Sigma. Actually, Chi Omega, like many other organizations, is a women's fraternity. There are also policies in place within Chi Omega that forbid Big Brother-Little Sister organizations.
