I agree with everyone who said don't lie. I once talked to an Australian when we were in Ireland and he told me that he used to dislike Americans for their attempts to assert their culture on everyone else on the planet but now that he'd met a lot of us he realized that young people are kind of the same all over the place. They'll never know how cool some of us are if we all lie about it.
Say you're American if you're proud of it, but don't expect people to speak English. I've always heard that if you make a sincere effort to the langauge in question, they will help you out. Also, don't take pictures. If you spend your whole trip taking pictures, at the end of your trip all you will have are your pictures.
Originally posted by Arya these 2 people from Ohio were commenting on how Paris was similar to Cleveland. They kept on saying how we have this in Cleveland, that in Cleveland, and how Paris is as buetifull as Cleveland. Me and another guy got really annoyed and we told them to shut up.
Good for you!
As the saying goes, "If you want things to be like they are back home, STAY HOME!"
I was shocked to see this thread. Years ago when I was in high school and visited Europe on a student exchange trip, it was suggested for us to identify ourselves as Canadians.
