I wish that Central Office would update the website and put the current and back issues of the The Sphinx on-line too.
Why does it take so long for them to publish and distribute new editions of the The Sphinx?

http://www.phisigmasigmafoundation.o...blications.php
Here is the most recent issue of the Sphinx and two back issues of the Legacy. I am sure at some point they'll upload the newest edition of the Sphinx. Sphinx is published bi-annually, although sometimes they run a little behind schedule. Part of the reason why we're running behind schedule is that Diane Macey, CO's coordinator and keeper of almost all information Phi Sig, just retired, and so they're a little focused on replacing her.
I know for a fact that CO is working hard to get the site ready to be updated, including a "sisters only" site - the problem is finding technology to interface with the office systems they are currently using. It's complicated, but trust me, they're working on it.

hmmm, I wonder how long I should wait to see if I get one....maybe a week?
Ususally i just email them and they send one out...this time I think i'll do everyone's address that I know. I was thinking of volunteering in any way possible for it - i have no experience but I can proofread at least.
and the website - I think it reflects quite poorly on the organization (being as I'm the type of person who goes online first for everything).
However, I really like the Foundation site - it is well done and updated fairly regularly.
I'm glad my chapter has someone working on updating our site - it's been 2 years!!

Ok, do they still do the publication they were doing last year. It was sent out monthly by Sandy Grossman. I used to get them, but I don't anymore.
Also, I agree, our website does suck and reflects poorly on our organization. I don't know why CO and G/SC can't stay on top of stuff. I know this is all volunteer, but I think if you take on the responsibility you should follow through.
Jess
Sorry, guess I'm still bitter about the whole Chapter Consultant thing.

I can't wait til I get mine! I read it, and then I have my mom read it... So she can see just what a great organization we are!
Yeah, def. agree that the website should be updated... I'm sure we have a FEW sisters around the globe that know enough about computers that they can fix it. A sisters only area would be great! Can't wait til that one comes out too!!!

eeeeeeeeeeeasy there kids.... take 'er eaaaaaaaaaaaasy.
don't be bitter, use your drive to change things in a positive way. like, donate to the foundation or to the fraternity - i posted the links on here already. I try to donate $25 to each per month. $50 bucks a month in the great scheme of my life is not that much, but if we all donate a little a month, it will add up to big things and help CO move things along!!
or volunteer - you can fill out the form online and the volunteer coordinator gets back to you almost immediately.
jess, i know you're sad about the chapter consultant thing but there are a lot of other ways you can help out!! and when you come to DC, me and you HAVE to meet up, because I work like 10 minutes away from where you're working - and then we can go to alumnae meetings together!! (because i'm too much of a baby to go alone )
please trust me when I say that they're working on it, but the only way you can bring big changes to the group is by being positive and supporting the organization in a POSITIVE way!!

I'm trying to stay positive - but it is disappointing when it seems like nothing gets done.
Maybe it would help if they put out an update or etc - even just on the mentoring list so that we can know what's going on. I don't think anything about the Sphinx or the website was mentioned in the Strategic Plan update thingy that was mailed out last month.
It's good you can afford $50/mo - I can afford $40/yr . I'm in grad school still and loads of debt. I do volunteer as chapter key advisor and I'm glad to do more volunteer work but there doesn't seem to be anything on the JPL that wouldn't overwhelm me.
On a good note - I received 14 certificates on tuesday! So our members who were initated Nov 1st now have them!!! Yay! (this used to be a problem too - see Phi Sig is changing for the better!!!)
PS I understand the consultant thing. I applied twice and never even got an interview . But there are a lot of other volunteer positions that are good too!
PPS If anyone knows a sister in the NY region, they're really looking for a RFC (they have one, but she's RFC of another region too)
ppps My email style is very blunt - don't imagine me in a negative tone at all - I am really proud of all the work our sisters and all of you are doing and I think Phi Sigma Sigma has improved enourmously over the last few years!
Keep up the good work!

Pirepresent and Jess_pom,
I'm not too far away from Northern VA! Maybe we can meet up. And if one of you decides to come to an alum meeting, let me know. Jess, I have your alum info sheet with my Phi Sig stuff and you already met Rachelle, so you're one step closer to becoming active with us! Do you know Kirsten Kinley? I think she's an alum from your chapter. Anyway, she lives nearby also.
Geez, now I'm all excited and stuff!
LITP,
Jadey

I finally got my copy!! It looks great, although I wished it were just a wee bit longer.
And I didnt realize how famous/important Sylvia Porter was - when my Dad saw the cover with her book on it, he told me that was the first book my parents bought together when they were married, and that it was sold all across the country and considered very important during its time! He told me it "kept a lot of people out of jail"... kind of cool! He was very impressed that she was a Phi Sig.
The article on alumnae initiating the CEO of Oregon and Washington National Kidney Foundation was really nice though. Very thoughtful and sweet to initiate such a distinguished member of the community who also has such deep roots in our philanthropy.
And there was a picture of an alumnae brunch we had last year at Pi, and my little is in it!
