You know how they say there are "universal" dream images all people share? I always wondered about that.
For instance, one of those I figure we all heard about in college
was, if you dream your teeth are falling out, it means you are sexually frustrated. Here's the question.
If you were indeed sexually frustrated, but basically unaware or not conscious of this fact, would "hearing" this information induce a "frustrated" person to dream their teeth were falling out?
PM_Momma-I looked up games- (Ball games, athletics) competativeness; conflict within the dreamer-the two sides;
sense of win or lose, success or failure; the game of love.

If you dream about swallowing a spider, you probably swallowed a spider. That abouts on avg. four times a year. yuck. Anyway, why did I have sex cereal? This is freaking me out.

Weird dream
Last night I had the weirdest and most random dream. It wasn't scary, but just .. weird.
I dreamt I was in a store shopping for lipstick. I found the most divine color, but it was used. I started frantically searching for another one of the same color that wasn't used and couldn't find one. I was so disappointed. Weird because I usually don't even wear lipstick.. I go for clear gloss..
Also in the dream while I was at the store, there were bunches of eye shadows and stuff on sale so I was looking for cute colors, but they didn't have any that go good w/ my complexion.
And then "Stitch" from the movie 'Lilo and Stitch' came into the store. That was probably the most random part of all. My younger (biological sister) was holding his hand and it looked like she was going to buy something.
That whole "stitch" thing scared me. I saw the movie once.. and it was a long while back when it first hit the movie theaters.
I just find this weird because I rarely get in "full makeup"... I usually just put on some mosturizer & gloss.. sometimes eyeliner.

Last night I dreamed I put a boy I knew from junior high/high school in a sack and started bashing him up against the wall because he kept disrespecting me.
It was in a hallway full of people and nobody cared.
For what it's worth, we were both the same age in the dream.

interpreting dreams is mostly dependent on your theoretical perspective you take. there is some good research support for dreams being random brain activity.
but even your waking thoughts are affected by your fears and certainly stress.

I've never seen this thread, but I found it interesting that both people who dreamed about crashing planes lived near airfields. Maybe you hear the planes flying overhead in your sleep and then dream about them. I had a dream about Hillary Clinton one night, but I woke up to my TV on with CNN playing. They'd been talking about her all night, so I just incorporated her into my dream.
My recurring dream, however, has nothing to do with planes. I actually have two of them. One involves going to the bathroom then discovering that I'm out in public in the middle of using the bathroom. The other is that my mouth is completely full of some type of rubbery substance that I can't scrape out as hard as I try. It usually prevents me from crying for help or explaining myself in some situation in the dream. Both are really annoying!

I can usually trace my bad dreams to things that I am worried about or stressers in my life. I don't think our brains ever stop working on our problems. I remember when I had Calculus and would struggle and struggle with a problem. I would put it away and then the next morning, in the shower or something, the real solution would hit me. My brain kept working on it even though I wasn't consciously applying my thoughts to the problem. I think dreams do this too. Since quitting smoking, I often have smoking dreams. I wake up in a panic, thinking that I smoked and blew it. Most of my bad dreams happen when I'm feeling like things are out of control and I am helpless to fix it. Those dreams end up being tornado dreams, where I lose everything but I am ok, or other types of horrible disasters, but I am always ok. I think it's my subconscious saying "Don't worry, bad things might happen but you'll be ok" Same with the dreams where you're running away from something but you're moving in slow motion. Or the age old "surprise test" dream, which I had a lot in college!
My most interesting dream was when I was trying to find the courage to leave my first husband. I dreamt that I was at my own wedding but there was no groom. My friends and family surrounded me in a big circle and were celebrating with me. It made me realize that the people who love me would support me in my decision. I obviously knew that on some level, but was afraid people would judge me for having a marriage that lasted only 14 months. It was the most reassuring dream ever.
I often have very complex technicolor dreams that are like watching a movie. Sometimes I'm in them, sometimes I'm not. I've often thought that those dreams would make really good books or movies if only I could remember the details to write them down! Those are not scary dreams though.

^^^ My surprise test dream was always a variation of "OMG I forgot to attend one of my classes for six weeks!"
AOII_Angel, rather than a rubbery substance, I frequently dream my mouth is filled with a dry, cake-mix substance.

For the first time in 12 years on this site, I dreamed about GreekChat. I was "warned" about posting an opinion in a thread and I was accused of "attacking" the other posters. Then the first six people to comment had their own talk show and they were talking about me. Haters.

Interesting that someone else has these dreams too. They are so annoying. I can't say I dream about GC, but I dream about work, college and HS on occasion. I've woken up mad after fighting with my mom or my sister in a dream over something random. I also hate that dream when you find out you have a final but haven't been to class all semester. I get those, but it's generally when I have been anxious about something stressful at work.

I just had a dream that I saw someone killing kittens and I ran as fast as I could to stop them, but I was too late. The guy had twisted their little necks all the way around. One was pure white, and one was pure black They were so little and so cute. I woke up actually in tears. I had it when Newman (one of my hounds) was sick, and I was really worried so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

Me too! And they have moved the test from the classroom to an auditorium across campus that I've never visited before.
