Oh, I guess that Dusty and his bro Matt were sleeping or trying to sleep in one of the rooms when Marty went back there, tried to talk to them, then puked out the window a few times right next to them and then continued to talk lol!
You've gotta PM me when you're gonna come up next, I practically live there, and if I'm not mistaken that was the Delta Theta Open rush that night

Well, so much for going the '12 member rule' w/o going local. The University has the deal that we -have- to become a local and etc just to get a seat in AGC (All Greek Council). Oye..so..that also means we have to do that just so we can have the chance to petition for a National. It goes -->Student Services --> then the Dean -->then the Board of Trustees -->then to the AGC. Oye. And the next time the Trustees meet is in January...gag. Sooo..... the paper process continues..

TKE209Sweethrt,
Keep your head up honey, it's all worth it in the end. In fact, it's worth it right now. Not many women your age get to undertake such a huge project, you are already developing skills that you will be able to call upon for the rest of your life. Just one of the many benefits of Greek Life!
Good luck.

Could you form an interest group for a national sorority, but make sure the university knows it's a *local* interest group? I mean, there's ways around things if you want to get creative.
All I can say is, you've got your work cut out for you! From what I've heard, Rio has a rule against everything and if they don't have one, they'll make one quick. No matter what, though, keep trying--they've got to back down sooner or later! And keep us updated...I'm dying to know how it goes.

Heh heh... as AchtungBaby said, there are ways around things. That is, you can form a local but make it clear to all your members and rushees that your goal is to go national.
I'm having fun imagining names for your group ... Gamma Nu, "going national," Tau Lambda, "temporarily local," Phi Nu Pi Chi Sorority (Future NPC sorority) ...

Fuzzie- Yep, that is the one plus of being made to start out as a local! The fun of picking various letters and etc!! I was thinking..Kappa Epsilon Gamma...lol..only Greeks could figure that one out..lol. Or maybe even the Lambda Lambda Lambda... *gets mischievous*
Hopefully this will be all be said and done before I graduate!! Oye!! Oh, quick thing, see, once we approach the S.S advisor w/our constitution and etc, she says yea or nay, then it goes to the Dean and he chooses if there needs to be another soro on campus, then is goes to the Board of Trustees for the final say. This is getting irritating!!! BUT, thankfully my parents are all chummy w/the Trustees. *shouts graces to God* For once I am happy that my family is involved in politics as much as they are!! At the moment I'm trying to get ahold of as many consitutions, creeds and etc to just see how theirs is and then model ours off of probably a mixture of them! Also, the good thing w/me and the SS advisor is that she loves me to death...which doesn't hurt a bit.
Oh, Achtung, yes...you are completely correct about the Rio-law making process... last year we were allowed to have those George Foreman grills...now...we're not allowed. Figures.
Oh, another thing, there's a group of freshman boys trying to get a new fraternity on campus. But, this is where I personally think they're idiots...they didn't even RUSH -ANY- fraternities to see even if they like any of the guys!! Plus, they're freshman!! Also, this is the funny thing though, since they're trying to bring another on, yet, have no close friends in any of the older fraternities, I'm afraid they are going to get shut down. *shrugs* Okay, now I'm rambling..and I have to continue the search of the elusive consit's....
Running to class now,
Kayla

Thanks for the plug!
Here's my shameless plug: If you want to find out more about the fantastic organization of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity, check out our website: www.alphagammadelta.org. In case you were wondering, our colors are red, buff (pale yellow), and green...very cheerful!
I also wanted to add---keep an open mind about all of the NPC organizations. You might be missing out on a wonderful sorority if you count it out just because of the colors. It's not like you have to constantly wear pink if you go Phi Mu, or pink and green if you go DZ, or red, buff, and green if you go Alpha Gam.
Good luck to you!

Ya know, it's kinda fun getting to learn about everyones sororities!!! And also, from just going from page to page, I've learned my greek alphabet backwards and forwords. I'm gonna be taking a break (hopefully) for a couple days from the web-searching and paper-writing soro process. Right now (believe it or not) my bf is feeling kinda jealous that I'm taking much more time out w/my girls than him and his bros! Can't make anyone happy!! LOL
Oh, AlphaGam, I checked out the site Pretty cool
OH!!! Quick thing...does anyone know of a site where I can find some makeshift consitiutions/creeds/etc?????
love and not-chosen-yet-maybe-one-day greek letters-go-here,
Kayla

You could probably look at different sororities' national web pages and sort of model your creed & constitution after those.

OK, My Turn!!
Ok, I've been reading silently, and now have to add my shameless plug for Alpha Sigma Tau!! Our website is www.alphasigmatau.org but I warn you now. . .it's being redone so the basic info is there, but some other more "detailed" pages are still down.
As far as looking at creeds, etc. for your "local", look for colleges that have local sororities. Most of those Panhellenic sites will have info and/or links to the local's website, so you could get info there. There is also a website that has all kinds of info about all kinds of local sororities. It's address is www.geocities.com/localsororities This could get you lots more info.
Please keep us informed of what happens!! By the way, what school do you go to?

It's the University of Rio Grande in southeastern Ohio ( www.rio.edu), it's an itty-bitty commuter college basically.
Here's some info about it: 5 local sororities (1 formally used to be Chi Omega)
2 national fraternities (Tau Kappa Epsilon & Alpha Sigma Phi) and 1 local fraternity
People normally go here to make up a major and/or become a teacher or a nurse (no lie, lol)
Now, back to my search-o-papers,
Kayla
ps, what's best for a cold?

Update
We just got another girl!! So far we have 6 very excited ladies!! (only 6 more to go ) Now the problem is just dividing up the 'chores' of getting everything set up amongst them all! Before, I was getting everything done..now everyone is wanting a part of it! Good deal.....
Oh, the new girl we have in an RA (Resident Advisor) so...now we can get a room in one of the dorms. So, that's always nice to have And...so far we have the backing of -all- the fraternities and 3 out of the 5 sororities so far. Oh, another thing, so far fundraising has already begun! We have the support from 4 Volunteer Fire Dept's and many of the local buinesses (sp??)!

I wouldn't necessarily mock those guys. In 1997 on our campus a lot of freshmen (along with older guys) were not happy with what they saw for fraternities on this campus, because at that point they were hazing horribly and all about keggers. 5 years later, they're the biggest, most prestigious fraternity on campus...and the other groups shaped up when they saw new members getting lost to this group.

Oh, sorry about the hastiness but I forgot about some other details about them. I was informed that the only reason they are try to form a new fraternity is to make a mockery of it. So far they are just trying to get names that sound funny I guess you could say once you have the plain letters. (KOX, BOB etc, etc) Also, since they are brand new freshman they don't realize how it works on campus. Once you get all the legal work finished you have to go to the AGC to even get -recognized-. And w/o any support from the other GLO's on campus your trip stops there. Like in my case, I've been around for a couple of years and have friends in each GLO and the girls I'm with have friends in the GLO's also..so it adds up in support. If the guys are serious, then I'm for them, but, no matter who I talk to (Greek or Non-Greek) I've been told the same thing. *shrugs*
