It should get better
The episode you watched was just finished last week and they really didn't have time to tweak it. It was so late even the critics couldn't get a preview. Hopefully things will be much better when it is in it's regular time slot.

I hope future episodes get better because I was pretty disappointed last night. I loved the movie--got it on DVD for Valentine's Day--but the show was flat.
I also want to know where Yiayia went! I didn't see her last night.

Did anyone else notice that the names were changed? Instead of Toula and Ian, it's now Nia and Thomas. What's up with that?

Probably has something to do with copywrite laws.

Nia Vardalos felt the name change would give it a more Universal appeal. She even wanted her mother to lose the accent but in the end they decided to keep it.

I liked the movie a lot, but thought the tv show was sorta "blah." I think I nodded off at the end of it. I'll give it a chance to get better, and watch the next episode.

I have yet to see the movie. I 'll try to rent it out sometimes before sunday. Everybody I know have seen the movie and said it was great. From What I heard, the show was okay.

I'm not suprised that the show sucked - should we expect anything less from CBS? There hasn't been a decent sitcom on that network in 15 years. (Note: I do not love Raymond; nor do most of my friends.)
