We have to think about why we give these names and not just give names. These names have a strong meaning that we will carry forever..

Sorhor quietstorm#10,

Some members don't really think about the consequences in the long run when those undergraduate years are over with and the member continues to grow and develop within the sisterhood or brotherhood.

Just like some of *our* folks don't think about the consequences of giving our children names like Tanqueray, Clinique and Dijonaise. These kids will eventually grow up and become senior citizens with names like this and be scarred for life

Why do I teach a child named Hennesey? And this is no lie, her sister is Alize. (but it's pronounced Alice.. ) Their mama wanted them to have "French" sounding names.... I just hung my head down at the parent/teacher conference. Can you imagine me calling the roll? "Hennesey, has anyone seen Hennesey?" "I need Hennesey! Where is Hennesey?!!" Just shameful

A couple of years ago, my cousin told me about one of her clients who is an elementary school teacher who had three students in one class with crazy names. She had a set of twins in the class -- Oranjello (pronounced o-RAHN-jel-lo) and Lemonjello (pronounced leh-MAHN-jel-lo). .
My aunt actually taught them.

Small world..

Lord Help the People ... Got one even Better SIRUITNOJ. A close friend taught a young man in her class and this was his name. This boy's mama named him this and it stands for satan I Rebuke you in the name of Jesus.

Pitiful.

Why would you put Satan anywhere near your child's name? I hope that poor child will be standing at somebody's office on his 18th birthday so he can legally change that mess. And it makes me wonder how many more children did she emotionally damage with jacked up names?

Sometimes bad line names are a last resort for someone who a) was forced onto the line or b) decided to act up once they got there. Some of these names are extreme, but sometimes undeserving people make it to the finish line and a precedent has to be set.

Thumbs down

I don't understand. Why would you want someone in your organization with a deragatory name? Even if you disliked them or felt that they did not earn or deserve your letters, there is no excuse. This is an embarrassment to the chapter and the national body. Fortunately, we were able to choose our own line names that reflected an aspect of our personality.

I am new to GC and also interested in a graduate org. in my area, I've seen plenty of bad line names on this forum. What are some good ones that have been given.
