Just a thought

I do respect James' decisions of course and I appreciate his response. However, would like to respond to the following quote:

Quote:
ITs not a bad idea, it just dosn't seem very needful at the present. If we start overflowing the Chapter Operations Forum or Rish Management Forum with pledge stuff we could always revisit this question.
Just a comment, but, if I was a new member, I don't think that the Chapter Operations or Risk Management forum would be my first stop. Wouldn't those forums sound kinda intimidating to a new member?

I'm not sure if I can say that there's a definite need at the present for a new forum, but maybe you could put one up for a trial period? Though, don't forget that it's spring and most new members appear in the fall.

......Kelly

So what's up everyone? Any more ideas?

Still haven't heard from John yet, but I imagine he's pretty busy.

Well I think it's a fabulous idea. Just because it would be a new forum wouldn't mean that it would have light traffic flow. So many people on this website come here and post about their rush experience, and maybe it would encourage them to stick around and keep posting if they had their "own" forum. I agree with navane that if I were still in my new member program I wouldn't go to Chapter Operations; of course I would go to the one designed just for me! SAEactive, I support you. I hope you hear back from John about it, and I would love to volunteer as a moderator. (Hehe, well hey I AM the new pledge educator afterall! JK )

I think there should be one too. There are new members that come on here too, they can have their own forum to talk as well!! They are so excited to be greek, you should give them a place to meet other ppl that are too and new to it all!

Thumbs up

As a former marshal, I'd loved to have been able to refer to a forum about what other fraternities did with their pledge education programs.

Excellent Idea

I so think that your idea can be cataforized in another forum. However, I think the topic is so overwhelming and something that every member of a GLO goes through that it would be a very needed and useful forum. So keep us updated on the Progress of the Forum. What are you all using as an alternitive until the results

I think there are people here who would be willing moderators. Maybe it costs money to make a new forum?

Perhaps we could convince with an actual thread about our pledge/new member/candidate training programs? If it's a busy thread it might prove the need for a new forum. I'd start it out now if I weren't on my way out the door...
