Hey katey, we have a lineage called la familia too! the tradition with that lineage is that everyone has a disney related nickname.. like "alice in boyland" "EEEEEEyore" "AIR-eial"
i can go on and on.. alot of my pledge class was in la familia.. some of them are hillarious..
i also know that the TKE chpater has a lineage called la familia too.. (my ex was one)
i think its fun to have silly nicknames cause its always a story to tell..

i really like that stoool idea.. since i havent gotten a lil one yet.. i just might start someting similar.. very cute!

We don't have nicknames. Or certain fabric or letters. But we have a lineage... Our paddles. Our family dterminines the shape and style of our paddles. We also share family poems in a frame that is displayed in our rooms - A teaser for the new members trying to guess their bigs.

This is an interesting tradition. I'm a member of a NPHC frat. I don't think we could totally follow this. As organizations we are distinquished as much by our colors as by our letters. We do follow something called persing little brothers and sisters. This is something remaining from pledging days. While they are on line you choose a member and ask their dean for permission to perse them or make them your personal. Basically you make sure they know their history and when it's over you usually get them a special gift, often something that was given to you or that you hold dear.

Its something that got started in my chap a few years back and seems to be going strong. We usually have fun with it. I kinda like it. Family trees have the same letter shirt patterns, and it is a siource of ribbing, my family this, my family that. All in good fun. Our nicknames area gas. I came up with a lot of them; G Money, SweetPea, Moolie, Jolly Boy, Dad, Hollywood, Gator, Kibbles, CHiPS, Dick, Wombat, Abu, Mr. Burns, Gavito, Little Gavio, Bits, Kayto (called that before OJ killed anybody), El Jeffe, Trico, Liam, Chandler Bing, Disposal, Scavenger, Leech, Major Applewhite, Francis, Rehab, Foghorn-Cleghorn, Dallas, Chicago, Toes, O, Icehouse, Dauber, Westside, Turtle, Tuck, Twin, Tiny Tim, Roid. You get the picture.

Our SLO Theta Traditions:
1) We get Jersey's with our nicknames on them, they all mean something, but only the girls know the meaning.
2) Each family has a "Theme"- Animal, flower, mine is the Princess Family, along with a pattern for letters that every new initiate gets.
3) We each have fun big sis revealing events, since I was 21, they took me out to this bar in town, that every family member that is still on campus has gone to together.
