My boyfriend is a Theta Chi, and so is Stephen Spielberg, and apparently in every one of his movies he puts a Theta Chi symbol in it. Like there is one Spielberg movie, I don't remember which one, but it has two guys swordfighting and the swords cross to form an 'X', which is what the 'Chi' is made out of on their crest. It's pretty cool, but I've yet to figure out what his symbols are in "Jaws" adn "The Goonies!"

Doesn't that happen in the big fight scene in Star Wars? (Between Darth Vadar & Luke).

When I was pledging my pledge ed told me this next one -- Micheal Eisner (Disney) was a DU at Denison, and he is also the one who formed/established the Mighty Ducks hockey team. Our mascot is a Duck, and that had some influence. I'm not sure if this is true, but that is what he was told.

This is kind of a lame one, but the only one I could think of that is AGD. There is a Frito Chips commercial where a lady is out in the garden and she's cutting red and buff roses. Either the director or originator of the commercial is an AGD.
We also joke about the Blimpie commercials because their logo is red, yellow, and green, but I'm pretty sure that is just coincidence.

I heard from our pledge ed that the director of Varsity Blues is a DU, and that in the beginning of the movie there is a DU license plate frame on the big blue truck. and supposedly the coach of the football team has our manual inside his playbook or whatever at one point in the movie.

Brian - i also heard (from a leadership consultant) that if you take the mighty ducks' crest and turn it upside down or something it looks like our shield??? i'm not sure about that one, i sure dont see it.

Common guys! Some common sense here! Do you really think that if Liz Clairborne's husband "invented" Delta Airlines, he would name it after his wife's sorority???? (no offense UMgirl not aimed at you personally!)

People are always too eager to believe things! Some of these stories are histerical!

(Just for those who are wondering, Delta Airlines was founded in 1928 as Delta Air Services. WAAAAAAAYYYYYY too early to be Clairborne's husband anyway!)

Hey I'm a Phi Mu and the thing about Steel Magnolias is true. The story is based on the life of a Phi Mu, her name was Susan Harling. The story I belive was written by her brother in memory of her.
There is a Phi Mu composite, which really was of Susan Harling's chapter and year, and also Julia Roberts wears a badge in the scene were her mother is putting on her corsage after the wedding. There is also refernce to the color pink.. "its her signature color.."
and there is a pink and white wedding with pink carnations.. i saw it for the first time at one of my retreats.. it was pretty interesting so see all the phi mu stuff all over it..
hope that helps

Wow! How interesting! I've seen this movie a thousand times. I cry EVERY time. It's one of my favorites. I'm a big Sally Field fan.

You beat me to it Carnation. Yes, Wrigley's gum has an arrow on it because Mrs. Wrigley was a Pi Phi. That's the same reason the clips on Parker Pens are arrows.

Also, in the television show "Designing Women" the characters of Julia and Suzanne Sugarbaker were Pi Phis.
