Not officially, but it's easy to find them! Even though their organisations allowed them to participate, I doubt they would let them bring their name into it officially.

Anyone have an issue with this show? I think it portrays sororities in a bad way. Also kinda have an issue with the American sisters affiliation with national organizations, why would that be allowed when it can be easily discovered what sorority they belong to?

Where did you see anything that said their organizations allowed them to participate or even knew they were doing the show?

The American girls' sense of superiority was really obnoxious. Also, black pearls = no bid as a veiled reference to blackballing? Puh-lease. The producers must have hired the author of "Pledged" as a consultant for the show.

I guessed- I'm sure if an organisation took away your membership if you did the show, there's not many NPCers who would have gone on it. I'm sure all of us are expected to uphold the standards of our organisation in the public, and I could see this being interpreted as not doing so (wait until later episodes-spoiler hazing). We all understand that even though you might not be wearing letters, you are still representing your Fraternity.
Also, I highly doubt that there is any chance that their repsective organisations didn't know they were participating. There's footage of each of the five American girls at their chapters in the US, word travels pretty fast.

You're right, I found all but one's affiliation. And I am relieved

No Alpha Gams either! I'm certain that each of the five American girls are quite lovely, and have contributed a great deal to their organisation. I just wouldn't want to risk the connections myself.

Just a few minutes of internet sleuthing revealed their NPC affiliations. I'm not 100% sure I've made the right girl-GLO match for one of them, but am pretty confident. They're intentionally written in white so as to not be easily readable, but those who want to know can highlight the text. Some of the footage seems to have been misleading in that aspect - they clearly showed an American sorority house with a huge Alphie rug, but none of the American Sigma Gammas are ADPis.
Amelia Smith: Kappa Delta at the University of Florida
Devan Lockhert: Delta Gamma at the University of Washington
Dominique Kruse: Delta Delta Delta at the University of Colorado at Boulder
Arianna Kjos: Delta Gamma at the University of California - Irvine
Hannah Hagler - maybe Delta Gamma at the California State University - Long Beach

While I in no way think that this portrays Greek life in a positive manner, I think it is important to remember that this was created by e4, a British channel, so it's not TLC who made the show. I completely understand that they chose to air it, but many of the complaints accompanying the petition are based on TLC making the show.

I don't know how I feel. I found the American girl's twitters and they seem like nice girls, i almost feel bad for them. I've also seen other episodes and to be honest I did like them. I mean the Americans were good and I didn't find them as embarrassing as most seem too. I do think that some of the stuff was a bit ridiculous and that they did partake in really hyped up rituals and pledge cuts I would say. I like though how the British girls interacted later on and that they do philanthropic stuff. However, in that preview on TLC it looks like they are throwing up from drinking- that's a misleading preview if I ever saw one.
I agree with ColdInCanada11 on a lot of your points you make in the thread.
If any one wants to twitter stalk in true Sorority fashion lol here they are:
@AmeliaSmith929 (President)
@AriannaKjos (Philanthropy)
@DevanLockhert (Social or Entertainment)
@DomKruse (Standards)
@HannahHagler (Social or Entertainment)
lol I get the Social and Entertainment chair mixed up.

Thanks
I've been reading a ton of stuff on t.witter, tumblr, etc, and I've had a few thoughts. I really do not think that Greek life as it exists in North America would be successful in the UK. I read a total fraternity move column about the show, about how they are ruining an American tradition. (Sidenote- I don't put any stock in this. It just appears like many women have been posting this as a reason why TLC should not be airing SG.)
Yes, my Fraternity was founded by American women, but I am a Canadian member. There are many traditions that are a staple of Greek life without question in the US that are found nowhere near our Greek system (ie. tailgating, themed socials, "grab a date", etc). In Canada, we often get mocked because people believe that things that are common in the US are common here as well. If we had a "Boats and Hos" type mixer (I've seen numerous pictures of the like on various social media sites), we would be publicly mocked. We spend a lot of our time defending our organizations. I think that campus culture (particularly in other countries and continents) needs to be taken into consideration.
The article also said there is no tradition. Traditions have to begin somewhere. Some start in 1851, others 1904, and some in 2011.
This is not an NPC sorority, so it's not representing NPC sororities. Many people say, "it's portraying all Greek life poorly". Well, quite frankly, if you are concerned with what teenagers and young adults in the UK think of you, you've got far too much time on your hands. Even if you do end up living in the UK, I highly doubt that in 5-10 years someone in business will write you off because of a reality show in 2011. There are also NPC sorority chapters who represent NPC sororities poorly (thinking of all those formal debacles last academic year).
A lot of people also seem to think that TLC produced the show
Ps. Just have to say, I'm nowhere okay with the hazing involved in their rituals.

The girls at our campus have heard of this and are not very happy with its portrayal of greek life. These are girls at one of the American sister's campus, I don't know how it is going to reflect for her and her chapter. Yikes!
