There is hope for her: I had mono in 6th grade (yep, I was young; no, I didn't kiss anybody), and I was up and recovered in a little over a week. There were about four or five days where I was knocked out flat, but I recovered fast. I know many aren't as lucky as I was though.

you were lucky. i had it in my 20's and it took me 6 months to feel better. my daughter caught mono her junior year of college and it took her about 4 months to feel fully recovered. she had a chapter sister who started out her freshman year at auburn, went thru rush there, pledged, caught mono and had to withdraw from school for the semester. hopefully op's daughter caught a strain similar to your's.

Apparently, over time, Mono becomes less and less contagious, but it can be spread after a period of only two weeks.
"Doctors and researchers aren't exactly sure how long someone with mono stays contagious after symptoms are gone. But it's generally believed that a person can spread the infection for many months after the symptoms are completely gone — some studies show as long as 18 months."
