It's been my observation that when it comes to articles or listings like this Biggest always =Top. They base these things on numbers- not local customs, traditions, history, etc.

First, AlphaFrog is right, and everyone else you have accused of being 'anal'. You HawaiiTKE are being quite rude.

Now back to that list...

Actually, I don't even think the list works if the sole criteria was Biggest (I assume you mean largest membership number). While its nice to see USC on this list I am pretty sure that Texas, Mizzou, UVA and even Michigan have much larger Greek populations than we do.

I would also be surprised if SMU has more Greeks than we do, let alone be large enough to be the sole representative from the state of Texas. Just on the basis that they are such a small school. And if the criteria was highest Greek percentage of the student body, there would be a whole lot more smaller schools than the big State universities on it. And I don't think it could be the number of Chapters either.

The creator must either have not had a strict criteria; not have done any proper research; or just plain did not care.

HawaiiTKE, though I appreciate you posting this list and wanting to get actively involved on this site, you might want to calm down a little because you may have pissed off a few people. It appears that you have posted TONS of stuff on this site already. While it's great to have someone so enthusiastic about Greek life (and TKE), just absorb some of the stuff on here for a little. I'm not trying to be hateful. It's just something to think about.

As far as the list goes, I really wish that if you are going to talk about Greek Life at Penn State they would take the time to mention Penn State's IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon--The LARGEST student-run philanthropy in the world. This year, the Greeks raised over $9.5 MILLION dollars in ONE year. That's something that makes me proud to be a Penn State Greek-not because of what this listing said.

ElieM and that Barbie girl have some serious issues. It's really not that serious. We're on a blog. I'm not being graded for this. Get over it. These are the rankings for the schools with the most thriving greek life thus implying the "TOP" schools for greeks.

And when you steal someone's work in your job, that's okay because you aren't being graded on it?! Plagiarism is plagiarism no matter the circumstance. You also never know who is looking at this site - especially since you just identified yourself with your email address (for EVERYONE to see!).

And no, 'biggest' doesn't mean the 'top'/'best'. 'Biggest' is quantitative. 'Top' implies a subjective ranking.

You know, given the tone of most of your posts here, I don't think you're in much of a position to lecture others. You sound like a whiney kid on the playground.

Take a look at the page you copied the information from. Now, scroll down to the bottom . . . the very bottom. There, in the right-hand corner, you'll see this: "© 2011 OnlineUniversities.com"

Aside from the legalty of simply copying and pasting copyrighted material without giving any credit, posting large chunks of copyrighted material is a violation of the Terms of Service of this site, as is posting copyrighted material without giving credit. See here, where you'll read:

If you are posting a news article it is fine to post an excerpt/summary along with a link to the full article on the news publication's website.
Meanwhile, lists like this are pretty worthless.

Thank you, MC. I was trying to find that last night but GC is so difficult to navigate on my phone. I knew that was here somewhere!

No, we're not on a blog. This is a message board. Do you honestly not understand the difference?

At least we know the difference between a blog and a message board. And we're not TKEs.

Go see his other post making light of child abuse. It seems appropriate given that post coupled with his obsession with rankings on this thread.

Wow...way to endear yourself as a new member here.

It may be "just a website", but just as Facebook is "just a website", things you do and say here can creep into your "real life". Many of us have made real life friends (and enemies) here.

"Under the present Copyright Act, copyright protection begins automatically upon creation of a work, and the work is "created" when it is fixed in a tangible medium for the first time. The work does not have to be registered with the U.S. Copyright Office, nor does it have to carry a copyright notice. Both are advisable, however."

"...You should remember that it is not necessary to post a copyright notice for the author to have these rights, even on the web."

And no, copying an entire article does not fall under "fair use". Just an FYI. It IS a big deal to writers, photographers and owners of content.
