well congrats on your bid to DZ!
honestly, if you think you want them as your sisters and can have great friendships and grow as a person then this was ment to be. The obviously want you to be their sister. My opinion is that this happened for a reason and you should go DZ if thats what your heart is telling you to do!

I'm going to try and throw the bias aside....

if the women of the DZ chapter are ones you could call sister and have fun with then i think you should go for it! They see something very special in you (I haope you see it in them!!!)

If not, check the other sorority out, maybe they have what youre looking for, maybe not.

My 2.5 cents

lilith - first congrats on the bid!! I'm going to jump into the fray and say go for it with DZ for a couple reasons...

-Being a chapter founder is exciting and history making but also MUCH more time consuming than pledging an established group. The national gives you a lot of help, but there is a lot on your shoulders that wouldn't be if you join something already there.

-Part 2 on the time factor - if you are an athlete it takes up a lot of your time, and the colonizing might simply take more than you can give.

-You have a bid in your hand from DZ right now. The groups that come in may not offer you a bid.

-It sounds like you really do like DZ and one of the few things that's holding you back is this one girl. Believe me every sister is not going to be your bestest friend - once you get over 10 girls together that's pretty much impossible. When the sorority voted to give you a bid, she had the chance to put her 2 cents in, and one of 2 things happened: a) she said nothing, and b) she said something and no one else cared. I think she is probably trying to move on with her life too and isn't blaming you for whatever happened between her and your sweetie.

Those are just my opinions...you have to listen to your heart first and foremost. Good luck!

Talking go where your heart is

it's wonderful to have a bid after some disappointment. now think hard about what you really want. the sure thing is in hand. the unknown could be exciting and really cool, or not.
what do you really want?
sounds like the sure thing is pulling you..
you sound like a great girl who will be successful wherever you land.
just make sure you land somewhere sweetie or you wouldn't forgive yourself.

I'm with 33girl on this one. Also, in the same vein of the sorority coming in not giving you a bid, suppose they give you a bid and their colonization effort fails! It sounds like you've got a great relationship with DZ and you're feelin' the love. Go with your heart. Colonizations are LOTS of work, trust me, I'm learning first hand. Not that they aren't extremely rewarding, but if you're a junior, you may not even make it through the colonization process to see the chartering.

Just my .02! Good luck, and congrats on your bid to DZ!

Well, as of tomorrow, I will be a full-fledged Delta Zeta!!!! Thanks SO much to all of you. As always, the advice and general assurance recieved from you ladies (and gentlemen)has made a world of difference to me!

As a side note: Texas A&M extended an invitation to colonize to Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. They delayed their invitation to come on till 2003 or 2004 though, which I thought was odd.
