Thursday, I'll be going to a technology conference.

Then I have another thing for new lawyers coming up.

Then in the 2nd week of October, I'm going to a CLE on adoption law.

Congratulations, Kevin!

Puts whole new meaning into passing the bar, no?

Congratulations! I've heard that it's unusual for anyone to pass the bar in one take. Is that true?

It's not at all unusual. At least not in Oklahoma. I believe my school had a 93% passing rate this go-round (or at least that's the rumor).

Not really - the average passage rate for people from my law school is around 90% on the state bar. Based on the percentages, it's more unusual for someone to fail the first time around.

Still though, passing the bar is a heck of an accomplishment.

To add to what others have said, it can also depend on the state and on the year -- some years, at least here, seem to be harder and have lower passing rates than others.

The licensed kind?

My Oklahoma license is a general one. I can do anything I want to do with it. Need to send in my fee for Federal Bar Admission, but that's no biggie.

I'll probably do family law, estate planning, a small bit of criminal, civil suits and small business planning. I'm not at the stage in my career where I can really afford to pigeon-hole myself.
