But anyway, my favorite discipline to show is equitation!!
I was one of those select few who never started in western lol. I always feel like I'm missing out when people talk about it I started in hunter/jumper then eventing, then back to hunter/jumper, with a little dressage mixed in.

sceniczip, you sound like my daughter. that is exactly what she did(minus the dressage) until she entered h.s. and discovered cross country(the people version) and boys.

everytime i see the title of this thread i think of "a very brady christmas"-of course, that could be because i am taking tylenol with codeine.

Hey everyone!!!

I just wanted to sign on real quickly before class and give you an update about how everything went yesterday!

First of all I was soooo nervous and excited for all the festivities to begin... but after i realized it wasn't that scary i had a lot of fun meeting the sororities and the other PNMs in my group.

The first house i got to visit was Hunter/Jumper. I talked to 2 girls and they both seemed really nice but i found that the conversation with both of them didn't really "flow" and it was kind of akward at times. It seemed like every PNM in my group really really really wanted to join this chapter.

The second house was Showmanship. I only talked to 1 girl at this house but she was super nice. There was another PNM talking to her with me though so i found myself competing to be involved in the conversation and get my questions answered...but nonetheless i still really liked this one!

Thirdly was Equitation. This was probably my favorite house of the night! I got to talk to 3 different girls here and what i really enjoyed about it was that everyone seemed like so much fun!! They told me about all their favorite social events they got to do last year and their philanthropy event (which is my favorite charity out of all the sororities).

Then lastly was Western. I really liked that i got to talk to so many different girls (5!) at this house...but on the flip-side, because i was being switched around so much i found it hard to actually get to know anyone that well. Of the girls I talked to it didn't seem like any of them were the "type" of people i would normally hang out with.

Basically we can go to 4 houses tonight so I didn't have to pick any to drop yet! Hopefully i can get to know them all better tonight!

Hii!!!

Today was house tours!!!

YAY FOR TOURS! I was excited to get to go back to all 4 houses!

The only thing I found to be EXTREMELY awkward, and somewhat inappropriate, was that at 2 out of the 4 houses I was asked what house I plan on joining (and not just once but 4 times total)! I don’t know if this is a normal question to ask us PNMs, but I was very put off by it.

Anyway...

The first house I visited was Western. Their house was adorable and the girls are very sweet and seem great but I still cannot see myself fitting in there. I don’t think it’s the type of place where I would feel comfortable and I just couldn’t imagine the girls as my best friends.

The second house was Hunter/Jumper. Their house is humongous and absolutely gorgeous! I really liked the fun and friendly atmosphere at this house but I found that at times the conversation was very slow and there were several uncomfortable pauses.

The third house was Equitation. This house was adorable and seemed like somewhere I could have sooooo much fun! Again today I got to talk to several different girls which I thought was really great because it gave me a better idea of the group as a whole. This is definitely my favorite house!

The fourth house was Showmanship. This was my least favorite chapter of the night. I felt that the conversation was very strange and slightly inappropriate for recruitment (lots of boy talk! (which is normally my favorite kind of talk but i thought it was a little awkward for a recruitment party) Lol!) Their house was beautiful, but this group really left a “bad taste in my mouth”.

After all the tours we had to go back to our Rho Chi groups and pick two chapters to drop…

My rankings were:
1.Equitation
2.Hunter/Jumper
3.Western
4.Showmanship

Tomorrow is Pref so hopefully everything goes well... i'm sooo nervous!

Personal opinion: this question is inappropriate. We were always told not to even ask about which other chapters a PNM visited that day. Sometimes, we'd ask "how is your day going?" and a PNM would respond with "Pretty good, I went to ABC and XYZ today before this," but we never outright asked about a PNMs invites.

Your daughter and I could be two peas in a pod.

I'm a hunter/jumper, who also did the EQ, so I'm hoping for one of the two!

Hey everyone!!!

First off i just want to thank all of you for the support and well wishes through out this exciting recruitment process!

Secondly... TONIGHT WAS PREFERENCE NIGHT!!!!! WOOHOO!!!

I was so nervous all day waiting for my schedule and worrying that i wouldn't get invited back to any of my top choices. I spent all my classes today staring at the clock waiting for our Rho Chi group meeting time to come!!!

After I got all dressed up and excited and i got to the meeting room i was of course early...more time to wait for my schedule! ugh!
When it finally came time and my rho chi gave me my schedule of pref parties my hand was literally shaking!!!

But i was so excited because i got invited back to my top 2!!!!

The first house i got to visit was Equitation! Again, I absolutely loved it! I got to read an amazing letter the girls had written for me and the ceremony they had was really amazing. All the girls i talked to at this house seem absolutely amazing and i feel like their personality types match me so perfectly!!!

The second house i got to visit was Hunter/Jumper! The girl i got to talk to tonight was the girl i had connected most with yesterday so it was very nice to see her again. I loved the fact that i had so much in common with her. The downside to this house was that the other girls i had the opportunity to meet didn't seem to "click" with me as well...there were times that i just felt a little awkward.

Although both houses had very moving ceremonies (which got me all "choked up") and they are both great groups of girls it wasn't too hard for me to do my rankings tonight....

1. Equitation
2. Hunter/Jumper

TOMORROW IS BID DAY!!!!! It feels like i have been waiting forever for tomorrow to come so i am really really really hoping that the outcome is a good one.
