Haha, yeah, we re-founded as a non-hazing and every brother is equal policy. I think I got it figured out. Found a site that generates fair chore lists and plus, if one of the 45 guys doesn't do their stuff, I'll just have them pay me out of pocket by the next party or do door duty the whole night sober.

Guys - Drinks - girls - dancing + Dull Work = Guys that get stuff done

There are 32 Fraternities on my campus, only one of which employs a cleaning person. I'm guessing a lot of the houses just pledge-itize their cleaning problems away.

Thanks

PS. you know how much you pay for that janitor/maid just in case nothing works?

We have a guy who works half days 5 days a week, so while I don't know, I would imagine its no small expense. We're a big chapter, its not a big deal when you have 150+ active and 40 in the house, but with 45 active it would be more pricey on each individual (although you probably also have much less intense messes). I would really say rather than having a chores list you would do better to have a few brothers a week assigned to do some minor things and let the pledges do the rest. It's not hazing if brothers participate too, and I know that I (and most all of the guys I know) would either pay a fine instead of doing chores, or do a thoroughly half-assed job (or even more likely find a pledge and offer to give them my information/sign their pledge book/whatever if they would do the chore for me) if the fine was more than I was willing to pay.

Here's the plan on that one...

You know that bum who is always picking up your cans you threw in the dumpster after a party? Grab him, give him like two or three dollars an hour and a beer and the cleaning materials and enjoy the time off.

We did that twice when there were no pledges.

Because when something bad happens in a really big car – accidentally speeding through the middle of a gang of unruly young people who have been taunting you in a drive-in restaurant, for instance – it happens very far away – way out at the end of your fenders. It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. - P.J. O'Rourke
