For the OP... when I was in school, I had a good friend who went to a small university where there was one NPC chapter and one local chapter, and she was a member of the NPC chapter. Keeping girls interested in Greek life at their campus was usually a challenge. Someone else above said that your chapter needs to be visible- that's what my friend always said was the key for their chapter- they would wear their shirts to sports events together, have lunch on campus together, give out cups of lemonade on hot days, sponsor sandwich-chips-and-a-drink picnics on campus, things like that.

Their big attention-getting philanthropy in the fall was a trick-or-treat for a local food bank- but they'd invite ALL the campus organizations to participate. The chapter would staff a table at lunch in the student center and encourage groups to bring in canned/non-perishable goods. The girls kept track and the group who brought in the most items for the food bank would win something from the chapter- not just a prize, but something interactive with the chapter; once the girls had a skating/pizza party for the winning group that got talked about for months afterwards.

You could bring in guest speakers on relevent topics and open it up to all women on campus. Some ideas are: bring in a career counselor to hold a resume workshop or interview skills workshop, have a police officer speak about personal safety, etc. You could create study groups for certain popular majors and invite others to attend, (even possibly provide a tutor). Dinner with a popular professor... Invite professor's kids to attend a Haunted House... You get the idea.

I think a previous poster got it right when she said BE VISIBLE. Hold events that have a wide appeal and invite others to participate with you. Wear your letters proudly on campus.

On the plus side, you don't have the competitive issues that many campuses do.

Try to be as creative as possible....and HAVE FUN!

Alpha Delta Gamma Fraternity's Xi Chapter is active at Bellarmine. I believe they are the only NIC member on campus.

Good call KSUViolet06-Lynn did just add Phi Mu. I was thinking the same thing but, before that it was Tri-Sigma (which has been very sweet during our addition to the girls). Also, I wanted to point out that while Augusta State only has one NPC (ZTA), it is colonizing both a Phi Mu and an Alpha Delta Pi chapter, as well.

I was thinking-maybe you all could see about bringing another chapter on campus. If it's hard to even feel like it's really a "greek life" experience and having no other contact with more sororities seems to be hurting you numbers-wise, maybe you could talk to the Greek Life Director. That's just an option. Good luck-I'm sure you'll find a way to get tons of great girls!

Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, WV only has a Theta Phi Alpha chapter. Their chapter of Phi Mu closed at the end of last school year due to declining membership.

rainingducks, I know what campus you are at. I'd encourage all your sisters to be active members of at least one other campus organization to get more info about your group out. You might be successful recruiting some members from the Women in Science group, since those women may be looking for more female friends on campus. I'd recommend trying to have mixers with different groups. If your campus has a club rugby team or something like that, have a party/mixer with them!

To Leslie Anne, your lists are totally not accurate. Many of those campuses have plenty of Greek Life, it's just local or not an NPC organization. This is not the same situation rainingducks is in, because I believe Phi Sig is the only social Greek organization on that campus whatsoever.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. The only one of those campi where ASA is "it" as far as social Greeks (male and female) is Loras, and that's because it had locals that when they were told to go national or croak, chose croak.
