Why haven't I seen any of the U.S. Olympians singing the National Anthem? I've seen other countries do it. Kinda gets me sad. Shawn Johnson was the only one I saw put her hand on her heart too.

Maybe I'm just watching it too much, but almost all of the swimmers both sang and had their hands on their hearts. I haven't seen it too much during the Track and Field competition though

??
All of the US Women's Gymnastic Team had their hands on their hearts, from the ceremonies I saw. Michael Phelps tried to sing (with his hand on his heart), but was too overcome.
I'll be the first to admit that I haven't seen most of the medal ceremonies, but I wasn't terribly upset by those I did see.

LOL...and now that video is gone. I guess they snatch them when people link them.
Leslie Ann: Just look up his name on youtube. About 5 of those links are gone now so hopefully you can still find something. Don't post the link because I think that means something. LOL.

What I find so crazy about the whole thing, is he was disqualified for taking too much injury time for a broken LEFT toe. What foot is he kicking the ref with?

None of the women in the 4x400 put their hands on their hearts. I usually give people a break about singing because I figure they are very emotional and reflective during the anthem. Those 4x400 athletes are the only ones I have noticed that didn't put their hands on their hearts.

Co-Sign. At least the women looked proud. I was a little embarrased about the men. Jeremy Warner looked completely bored.

The men's basketball team all had their hands on their hearts and Kobe Bryant was singing his little heart out
It was so exciting - I, somehow, woke up in the middle of the night last night, and turned on the game, Spain kept it so close to the bitter end, and I was worried they might suffer a defeat like the women's softball team. When they won, they were so happy, like kids, jumping up and down and hugging. I loved it!!! Of course then I was so wound up I ended up not being able to go back to sleep
Naptime!!

I noticed that too. I was a little ticked off by it.

I think it was Kobe I saw during the opening ceremonies. Some other athletes from another country came over and asked him for autographs. Afterwards, I just caught part of what he said to them, "How do you say 'thank..." Seems he was asking how to say thank you in their language. Now, that's the Olympic spirit!

Really? The swimmers I saw (including Michael Phelps) didn't do it. Of course, i'm not a big fan of the swimming competitions, so I didn't see all of them. The Track & Field ones i've seen, they haven't done it either.

I guess when I compare it to China, who all the competitors have sung (from what i've seen) and even the audience gets involved. That hasn't happened, from what i've seen, from the U.S.

I'm a swimming nut and lost a lot of sleep. Phelps did have his hand over his heart on all of them. So did his relay teammates. Although, those I saw trying to sing along, were usually off tempo to the music.
All of the fencers (the three USA women) and the women's rowing team stood with their hands over their hearts, and I believe all of the swimmers did (I know all of the men's relays did).
