I think I am so done with this season.

How in the hell can Castro stay after that shit?

Cook cannot win Idol. If he does, 19E will pummel his edginess into little commercial pieces of dust they can use to make more money. So, I am hoping he'll get voted off soon and get a contract like Daughtry.

Maybe Carly will get a contract, too... And hopefully it'll be a better album than Ultimate High was. That mess was WAY too pop for her.

I am really saddened by tonight's vote. Brooke, Cupcake, or Castro needed to get the heave-ho...

Well, if I keep watching, maybe the reviews I post will be funnier now.

Is America tone death? Do they know what good music sounds like?

Because Castro and Brooke did not deserve a pass!

I thought it would have been great this week being ALW and all! But it was so blase!

I was shocked and seriously mad that Carly got kicked off. I thought her song was one of the better ones!

I actually like David A's version. It was interesting!

I LOVE David Cook!!!! He was very sexy singing Music of the Night!

I have a better idea for Castro.....Lets go cut his dreds off in his sleep!!! That should help him to remember to never butcher an amazing song like memories ever again!

Don't you know that the American Idol does not have to be a good singer? They do, however, have to be cute to young females. This show is really a contest in marketing one's self, and singing is just one way to do it.

I won't be watching anymore this season. I actually stopped watching the show regularly back in the Taylor Hicks season. I was hanging in for this season because they had some interesting voices earlier, and I thought Carly dominated when she chose the right songs. With Carly being kicked off tonight, after giving one of the best performances last night, the show is now completely boring to me. David Cook's gutsyness is not enough to keep me tuned in through the mediocre others. David A. will win, even though he doesn't really have his own style. I feel another Ruben or Taylor comin' on.

ETA: Anyone notice that the only women that seem to go far in AI in recent seasons are ones that are likeable to young females? And I mean young white, conservative, "cute" females. Nice girls that don't have attitude. Otherwise it's cute boys that make the cut.

Jason reminds me a lot of that red-headed crooner kid from Season 3 (cannot remember his name). Both seem to be way out of their league on AI but have the rabid fan base of teenage girls. And both really wanted to go home. I feel bad for him. It would suck to have to get onstage every week with your heart not being into it and knowing that you're not as good as the people around you but you're contractually bound to stay.

Brooke and Jason are the worst left but both were safe..... I actually think ONE of them MUST go next week.. but since its Neil Diamond Week (and i dont have clue what he or any of his songs sound like) I'm not gonna bet the farm on it

I haven't posted in this thread, but decided to come out of hiding today.

Jason is the best friend of one of our dear family friends (who was in the audience last week - which I have to admit was fun to see). Anyway, he thought he was a goner this week, and frankly (from what we've been told) was kind of ready to go. He tried out for AI as a lark, never thinking he would make the cut. Once he did, he has gone along for this very strange ride, never thinking he would make it this far.

Y'all he is your typical college kid, extremely involved in his fraternity at A&M (Aggie Men's Club - a Christian fraternity). He is a great kid, really sweet and unassuming, who is in over his head and kind of freaking about it. His plans for his future did NOT include a musical career - he is a really good student and planned to finish his degree. Now, with having to do the tour and whatnot, he's in somewhat of a quandry.

So, the hateful comments are painful to read. He will breathe a sigh of relief bigger than yours when he gets "the boot".

That's odd considering he's already been on MTV as the boyfriend of music wannabe Cheyanne Kimball.

Quite frankly, I find it really horrible that he tried out "as a lark" and had no plans of a musical career. He took a spot that someone else could have had. THEY probably wanted it, too...

Thing is, all he has to do is QUIT. But, I doubt that's gonna happen...

It really is rather upsetting to find out that Jason doesn't even want to be there. On the one hand, I think those who deserve a recording contract will get one regardless of who wins. What worries me is that if Jason stays it's going to affect who the winner will be.

There's been some talk amongst David Cook's fans about whether winning AI would really be such a good thing (the stigma, less control over the creative process, etc.). However, according to his friends running one of his fansites, David REALLY wants to win and feels it would be a great honor.

With Jason staying in, it's possible that it could come down to him and Archuletta in the finale. Odds are that Archuletta would win. With Jason out, it would probably be the two Davids in the finale and that's a hard one to call. Cook could win it.

Yes, it's just a talent competition but I hope Jason realizes that he's playing with people's lives.

Sorry, srmom, I hope you don't take things too much to heart, I'm sure he's a nice kid, he seems to be sweet-natured in general and I'm sure he's a good friend to your friend.

But I do eagerly anticipate his exit from my TV screen every week.

Srmom-

I don't think anyone has any true "hate" for Jason. He does seem like a nice guy, but is clearly uncomfortable with the spotlight, and his music is just not my taste. I have found that there are others on this board who agree. It is not that we don't like him as a person, it is that we have others in the competition that we would rather go further.

My aunt lives in Rockwall, so she keeps me posted of the local Jason flavor there. It also helps keep the perspective that these are in fact real people performing on that stage.

Sorry if we took things a bit far. No hate intended at all. Just getting in the competitive spirit of some of our favorites in the competition.

Oh no! Now I feel really bad. I didn't mean to be hurtful with my comments. It's nice to hear he's a good kid. I had mistakenly taken his casual attitude for arrogance. Now it makes sense. My apologies.

He certainly does have charm and charisma. I wish him well with whatever he chooses to do in life.

Thanks for the replies. No problems I just wanted to inject that he really is a good kid, and just a normal guy.

Although many of the performers this season are really "seasoned pros" who've been trying to break into the business for years, for some, this is the first foray into "show biz", and that they are getting the first taste of stardom and all it entails.

He made the choice to audition and he made the show. Now, the problem is that it opens you up to appraisal and comments from all over the place, both good and bad, including all the creeper fans (which there are plenty). The bummer for him is there is no going back to what has been a pretty awesome life - college student hanging around College Station with buddies, playing the guitar once in a while.

It was funny earlier in the season when Simon made a comment about how his singing sounded like a college kid in his dorm room, late at night, singing to a girl. Wellll, that's what he was doing a few months ago

Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to say, "Oh, Poor Jason" because he is having fun and enjoying it while it lasts, but at the same time, his life is changed forever, and maybe not for the better.

Yeah, but at the same time, it also really sucks for the people like Michael Johns and all those cut before him that really, really want to be there. If his heart's not in it and if he doesn't want to do music for the rest of his life, he's taking the spot of someone who wants it more than anything.

True - but short of saying on national TV - "VOTE ME OFF - PLEASE!!!" His Castromaniacs, or whatever they are calling themselves, will keep calling in.

He should get the axe soon, the contestants who are left (besides Syesha) seem to have pretty big voting blocks. IMO, it's going to come down to David vs. David and it's been that way from the beginning.

This season has been unusually unsatisfying to me for some reason. Except for the fact that we are keeping up with Jason, no one really reaches out to me and keeps me wanting to watch. I wistfully think back to the first season when Kelly Clarkson blew me away. I literally got chills that year, this season - Meh...

On the AI forums they call themselves "Dreadheads." He has a huge fan base there; second only to the "Archies."
