COB Events

Our chapter is not good at recruiting women. We actually got 10 over recruitment, which is SO good for us. Yay for FAUNikki. You did an awesome job as MRC. But, we have trouble getting girls to COB. What does your chapter do as COB events? We are the smallest chapter at FAU, with 29 girls, but we have 100% retention rate. YAY!

Hey Strawberry,

that is great on the retention rate. About your question regarding COB I'm not sure I can help. I was just wondering though if your chapter has gone through Vision before. If your chapter practices Vision the way it is presented by the time you are COBing most of the women would be friends or really good acquaintances. These would be women that you are sure you would want as sisters and who would already know a little about Phi Sig and would want to join.

First thing to do is ask your CKA to see if you can get a Programming Facilitator schedule a Vision workshop for your chapter. In the meantime, if every sister was to start inviting just one friend/classmate to hang out with sisters like at lunch in the student union or even to scheduled COB events like Pizza night, bowling night, etc that starts the ball rolling. Then anytime another sister sees that woman on campus they should invite her to join them as their hanging out in the student union. Sisters get to know these women and they get to know you without the pressure of being "rushed" - when COB comes up you talk to them about it then.

Hope this makes sense,
Carolyn

Good advice. Maybe that's the problem, we had Vision last year at Founder's Day, but over 3/4 of our chapter is new since then. It's hard for me to meet people because I am almost graduating, but we should have a Vision refresher, thanks! I didn't think of that.

Exclamation Spring Recruitment

Hello ladies...I am from a Phi Sig chapter in CT and I need some help with recruitment. I am new to the MRC position and there was nothing left for me to go on when I took this position. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some recruitment event ideas or what you give to your girls as gifts on bid day. We start recruitment soon so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Zeta Eta just finished informal recruitment this weekend and we are so excited to welcome 5 beautiful new members to our chapter!
For recruitment events we try to cover all aspects of the sorority. We have something to showcase the importance of social/greek relations, philanthropy/fundraising/sunshine and sisterhood. For instance for the philanthropy/fundraising/sunshine event we made cards for the Red Cross workers who are working hard on the Tsunami relief efforts, also we had each girl use colourful markers, papers and glitter to right something inspirational that helps her get through tough times and then the cards were traded between all the sisters and potential new members. Everyone was able to leave with a reminder of the fact that sisters are always there for you and we had lots of fun getting creative together.

Our formal recruitment started last night.. Our theme party's tomorrow night, we're doing a Mardi Gras theme. If it goes as well as last night's casual parties went I think we're gonna have a pretty good turn out! Good luck to everyone with their recruitment!
