Especially considering there is a "Persian" language. Maybe they meant Farsi.

I do find it odd that the name means pickpocket in Japanese.

Israeli newscasts were good-naturedly skeptical about Suri being a Hebrew word. "We seem to have learned a new Hebrew word, and from Tom Cruise, no less," said the Channel 2 anchorman.

Oh wait, it's probably because I believe in God.
I totally agree!!

Even the lady who was speaking to that "doctor" said, "isn't that more detrimental to the baby? I mean, no speaking to the baby for 7 days?" And the doctor said yes, but that's the way it is.

Geez..I seriously hope Katie snaps out of it soon.

Does anyone one know who was in the room with her besides Tom and the doctors and nurses? I heard that Katie's mom so desperately wanted to be in the room in case of an emergancy baptism, but I didn't hear anything else about who was in there the day of.

Not talking to the baby for 7 days? Screw scientology. Those first few days are critical for infants. Poor Suri.

Wow, I'm really impressed by Tom Cruise.

Not only is he an actor, he's a medical doctor, psychologist and drug counselor, he's now also a linguist! Is there anything he can't do???

I found another article about what Suri might mean. These were my favorite ones.

PerezHilton.com notes L. Ron Hubbard's former home and Scientology's UK headquarters is located in Surrey, England. Tom's first choice, "Birthplace of Our Leader" Cruise (or just "Birthy" for short) was quickly nixed by the mother.

Tabloid Baby's research turns up only two instances of the name: as a type of alpaca, and a couple home pages of guys from India."

My Name Is Suri: An ancient Buddhic lesson about Karmic retribution cites two brothers, one named Handoku and the other--you guessed it--Suri. According to legend, "Suri is the name of the village idiot who attained enlightenment because of his stupidity. He was so stupid he forgot his own name."

When she gets older, maybe she'll wear her hair in bangs and she'll be known as Suri with the Fringe on Top.

Pfft, that was really lame; sorry!
