That was really interesting. I wonder if the task force knows about those connections???

Big Sis- our aunt asked the same thing when I emailed her the link. this is what i replied,
I agree about the deaf school connection. it seems to me that if these investigators are truly worth anything, they would have someone monitoring things like message boards to look for anything suspicious. Like for instance, someone who knows a little bit too much info.--- things only the killer would know.
Especially in south Louisiana there are plenty of people who are white and black.
What gets to me is when Dene Colomb was found the task force says that "they never limited their investigation to any one race." Was I the only one who read the FBI profile that stated the killer was probably a "white or possibly Hispanic male"?? It is okay for us to assume and speculate what race he could be but I mean, they are professionals!!

I need to get a chalkboard and start tracking this stuff myself!!!
This is insane! When you see ANY pattern, what could it hurt to investigate??? Maybe they know something, but can't substantiate it.
Thanks for the link...ANOTHER MESSAGE BOARD!!! What am I to do? I'll be reading all day!

JAM- I agree, there may be a link but no way to narrow down who exactly. I always wonder what they know (or don't know).
Good News.....
http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/...g_dna001.shtml
Best case scenario: They would find him! Or at least find a victim who was an eye witness to what he looked like at the time, etc..
Worst case scenario: This serial killer won't be found, but more crimes could be solved. Which would be good too.
I don't know anything about SKs. But I don't think that people just become serial killers over night, they have to start somewhere. Maybe he was a rapist before and I would bet that if he was, it was probably in LA. Unless he moved here recently?

An update for those of you who live out of town.....
Alleluia! Though the serial killer has not been caught, we now have a name and a face. He is from St. Francisville though his home there has been abandoned for days. The Gold Mits. Mirage that he was driving when he tried to abduct and or rape three Breaux Bridge women was his wife's car!_ He was married at one time, at least as of '01._ At one time, he worked in Zachary and is also wanted for stalking women there._ I believe that there are two unsolved murders in the Zachary area, one of them was a home health nurse. This animal has a history of serving time in the West Feliciana jail._ In 1988, he was charged with unarthorized entry stalking and harassment and in '99 peeping in apts. in the same area.
LSU Chancellor Mark Emmert says that security around LSU will still remain high and Derrik Todd Lee's picture will be everywhere!
He will be tried right here in Baton Rouge when he is caught.
FBI agents all over the U.S. are looking for him. DNA was taken earlier this month from him and that matched the DNA taken from Carrie Yoder which matched DNA taken from all five known victims.
I don't know what kind of work he does, but he attended West Feliciana Vo Tech.
Once the car and the sketch of the man wanted for the rapes in Breaux Bridge was released, tons of calls came in from the West Feliciana area. His parents may still live there and he has worked in Lafayette.
He drives a big truck, I couldn't get a description of it.
quote from the advocate, heartbreaking
"Jane Lee, who identified herself as Derrick Lee's grandmother when contacted by phone in St. Francisville, told the Associated Press that police had questioned her Monday morning about her grandson's whereabouts. She said she had last seen him about three weeks ago.
Jane Lee said her grandson is married and has two children, a son who is about 12 and a daughter several years younger. She said she was concerned about the warrant but declined to answer further questions."

I've been following your posts. I hope this guy isn't so elusive he can't be caught quickly! I'm afraid he could move on to another area and melt away. Remember how the profile indicated he was taking bigger and bigger risks? Where could he be hiding? If his urge to kill is escalating, this could be an extremely dangerous time. Scary thought- at this point, what does he have to lose?

yes, i was SO relieved to hear this morning that they finally have an official suspect. it was the first thing my dad told me when i woke up this morning, my aunt called, my boyfriend's mom called, etc. everyone is following the case very closely right now. it's still scary because he's obviously a VERY dangerous and manipulative man and hasn't been caught. it's so creepy to think that he has been maintaing regular contact with his grandmother all this time, right under our noses! i have a friend who lives in st. francisville, and i was just there the other day. *shudder*. thanks, thetalove, for keeping everyone up to date.
