(Please note that I am not drooling over that sandwich in a way that would be unbecoming to my "Southern sorority")

Well I do agree that PTC probably helped the rest of the county get better restuarants, and I did enjoy a few nights at Hanger 74 or whatever over the break...I think FC people have a point in saying it is getting bad. The yankee problem really isn't bad anywhere but PTC, but I used to like it more when it was a country club/southern planned community. I think most people in fayette would say the problem is obviously coming from Clayton. People are moving in great numbers from Riverdale and the like, after basically having destroyed that entire county. Crime and traffic are up in the entire county, and it directly coincides with with the influx from above. A friend's mother saw someone at the pavilion wearing a shirt which read "we took clayton, now we're takin fayette." Looks like I'm moving.

the cole slaw can be a bit rough, but otherwise, if you're looking to consume an entire day's calories in one sitting....this is your sandwhich.

That thing makes me sick to my stomach. Can people actually finish an entire on in a sitting, or is it like those ridiculously big meals (steak, hamburger, burrito, etc) that you get free for eating one?

Heck, there are guys who can eat two.
Trust me, it's really good after you've been drinking all night. It looks disgusting but it is sooooooooo awesome.

What are you talking about?
After drinking you eat a burrito as big as your head. If that's not available, then you look for a grease burger. If you want exotic you might get a gyro. And to be on the safe side, a gigantic slice of pizza will do. You never go looking for what looks like leftovers and kitchen garbage in between 2 pieces of bread. And don't argue, you know that's what it looks like.

What, exactly, is a debutante?
Some Southern traditions kinda weird me out.
We had an ADPi from the south come to help us out with recruitment and it was amazing how different she was than us... she didn't understand how we could wear jeans during rush. Haha.

A debutante is not necessarily a southern-only tradition. It happens at country clubs all around the country. College-age girls from wealthy families are "presented" to their parents' friends and families at a formal dance given in the debutantes' honor. The girls being presented traditionally wear white formal gowns.
To Shinerbock re: the Peachtree City comments- Would Peachtree City exist in all its glory if it weren't for the Delta airline pilots and their money? How many of those Delta pilots are true native Georgians, born and bred? And don't think Fayette county is the only one reaping the benefit of the Clayton exodus. Spalding and Henry are feeling it too...

Oh... so kind of like a quincenera? Is the whole point that the debutante is an adult now?

I guess...it used to mark a young lady's "presentation" to adult society. Now I think it's more of a tradition than anything else. There are some earlier posts in this thread that explain debutantes really well. I wasn't one, so I can't really explain it. But my roommate my freshman year at Georgia was a debutante. I was like "People still do this?" when she told me. She didn't think it was a big deal at all. But her dad was a doctor in North Carolina and I was just a middle class Yankee, so what did I know!

Well yeah, the original wealth of Fayette Co. was based on Delta. I mean, obviously we have corporate types from other ATL based companies (UPS, Coke, Home Depot, etc), but Delta was the main one. However, most of those pilots have been in Fayette for a while (in my experience, I have probably 20 friends with parents as pilots, all have been here for at least 15 years, and most are from GA). I'm sure it is different depending on who you talk to, but the majority of people moving into PTC from the north have been in recent years, past 3 or so. As for the "benefit" brought by Clayton County, I'm sure you're joking. Unless of course, you consider crime a benefit.
