The original "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" scared the crap out of me. I have actually never seen the entire movie. I remember watching "Silence of the Lambs" in a movie theater with three of my friends. We were so terrified that we were holding on to each other. "Psycho" is also terrifying. I watched a Biography of murderer Ed Gein who was the inspiration for the murderous characters in these movies. I think that is why these movies are on my mind.

"The Exorcist," "Salem's Lot," "Rosemary's Baby," and any movie that has to do with the devil scares the crap out of me.

My bf mentioned the monkey scene in "Faces of Death" the other day and it grossed me out.

The End of Evangelion (3 episode ending movie, bout 90 mins total) (this is anime for those of you people who don't watch any) was really disturbing to me the first time I saw it about 4-5 years ago. I watched it over 2 more times in a row after that because I was trying to figure it out. I really love that movie now though, and it has some great thoughts on life that you can get into...

as for regular movies, a Clockwork Orange freaks me out... though I find no deep meaning in it for me...

And just when I was confident I was going to be the only one to mention it. The religious themes throught the series bothered me, but the movie was far worse.

I also thought the childhood scenes in the Butterfly Effect were disturbing. Other movies that were hard for me to watch:

I have a hard time with anything that reveals the darker sides of human nature in a (semi)realistic manner.

I just saw the Butterfly Effect this weekend. The whole movie had me bugged out but I thought it was pretty interesting. If my kid was an actor I would not allow him/her to take any of those roles. I'm sure they would need therapy afterwards.

13 ghosts had me scared to go to sleep for a week!! I'm not jokin', especially the one with its head in a cage and the girl who sits in the bathtub watchin that woman as she washed her face with blood, unbeknownst to her. For a week everytime I washed my face, I'd peak through the streaming water in my eyes to the tub (LOL!!) It's funny now, but it sho' wasn't funny then.

Vanilla Sky had me tripped out--what in the world was goin's (yes goin's) on?

The Passion - Just brought me back to reality about what Jesus did for ALL of us.

That's all that comes to mind at the moment. I'm sure I'll return with more.

I really love my dog and that movie really grossed me out. Not even Gael García Bernal's beautiful eyes make that worth sitting through.

Here are the movies that have freaked me out for one reason or another:

Eyes Wide Shut - The whole deal with the masks just creeped me out. Can you say Fidelio?

American History X - Edward Norton is amazing. A powerful movie with a sad ending.

Kids - The virgin surgeon grossed me out. I vowed never to have sex after watching this. Later changed my mind...

Silence of the Lambs - I was more creeped out by the way Dr. Lecter called Clarice's name more than anything. The mask thing on his face gave me nightmares for weeks.

8MM - Would you not know if your daughter was happy & doing well or would you rather know she died as a result of a snuff film?

American Psycho - Naked man with chainsaw was too much.

Carrie - Hand coming up from grave gave me nightmared for weeks. Also scared of opening doors for fear of buckets of pig blood raining down on me.

28 Days Later & Dawn of the Dead - Still live in fear that this may actually happen to us.

House of Sand & Fog - One of the saddest & emotionally draining movie I've ever seen in my life.

Deliverance - Once was enough for a lifetime. Rape scene is disturbing.

The Crying Game - Steven Rea is awesome. Only he could have pulled off this emotional rollercoaster.

Passion of the Christ - Loved it but lost control of all emotions when Jesus was falling & the montage had him falling as a boy while Mary ran towards him to catch him. Had to leave the theatre to sob in the lobby while people in line watched me.

There was a rape scene in a John Travolta movie (Generals Daughter?) in which the young lady was tied to 4 stakes while her platoon took turns raping her. I had to turn my head & wait for my bf to tell me it was o.k. to look now.

The Killing Fields - Need I say more?

The Deer Hunter - Robert DeNiro & Christopher Walken. That movie was deeply disturbing & literally frightened me. Anyone who has seen it knows exactly what I'm talking about.

M - Early 1900's German movie about a child serial killer. First movie to deal with split personalities & people hearing voices that command them to kill. Really creepy & disturbing. If you can find it, definitely watch it.

Soldiers Sweetheart - Based on the short story "Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong" from the book "The Things They Carried."
Young girl goes to visit her fiancee in Vietnam & becomes so engrossed in the life & warfare around her, she becomes a better sniper than the Green Berets & soon is immersed in the land around her. It's disturbing to watch her metamorphises from All-American girl to disturbed soulless woman with vacant eyes & a necklace made of human tongues.

The majority of the final episodes of Evangelion are pretty disturbing, anyway...once Misato finds Lilith, Askua gets mind raped, and the entrance of Kaoru.

Schindler's List was incredibly disturbing for me as well. Mainly because the events actually happened. And while I was a bit disturbed by Silence of the Lambs, etc., List still tops it for me. But it's still a really good movie.

A movie that scared me as a child was Lady in White. I watched it recently and it still freaked me out!

Also, one of the Tales from the Darkside movies (the one with the mummy in one story and the gargoyle in another) REALLY messes with me.
