I'm going to go with Delta Zeta, since that's what I did choose when I went through Rush. DZ is the 2nd largest sorority in the country, and the pin was voted the most beautiful sorority pin, but those are facts I learned after I accepted my bid. I chose DZ because of the sisterhood I saw, how each sister had a special bond with each other, and the philanthropies. I couldn't be happier in my choice and am proud to call myself a Delta Zeta.

Oh, and a bonus-turtles are too cute of a mascot. Turtles are deaf, and is our mascot because our philanthropies deal with the deaf and hard of hearing?

It takes the fun out of it if you say that you would join your sorority. It's neat to hear how other women view other sororities or what their reasons would be for joining

Too many to choose from! If I lived in a terrible world with no Alpha Phi, I'd be extra-interested in:

Kappa Alpha Theta
- Black and gold goes with Georgia Tech's colors and I like the single-letter nickname. No chapter at my school.

Kappa Kappa Gamma - Fleur-de-lys and ditto on the single-letter nickname. Sapphires are my birthstone. No chapter at my school.

Zeta Tau Alpha - Love the crown. Also at GT, "On Wednesdays, we wear pink." (line from Mean Girls that plays on ZTA's philanthropy).

Alpha Delta Pi - Gotta have respect for the ladies who started it all! Great chapter at my school.

Phi Mu - Love the pink, quatrefoil, and French motto.

Not to be a nitpicker, but where on Earth do people get these stats from?

I have heard the same about several sororities (ex: XYZ is the 4th largest sorority in the nation, or ABC is the largest sorority in the nation). I've seen them on FB groups, on Bid Day shirts, you name it.

Where does this info come from? Are there some super secret rankings I don't know about? lol. Or is it one of those "a bunch of people said it so it must be true" things?

I think she means Delta Zeta is the largest sorority by number of chapters (however, I don't know if that's total chapters ever chartered or active chapters). I think I've seen Chi Omega as the largest on that list and Alpha Phi as third. Another size-ranking is by the number of initiated members, where I think I've seen Kappa Kappa Gamma in the top three. However, I don't put too much value in those rankings because I have yet to see a primary source for those numbers.

During the new member period for Chi Omega, we were told that we were the largest in the nation. I will admit however, that I have no idea where that statistic comes from or whether it's based on number of chapters or something else.

I also recall that during recruitment, I was told that the ten largest sororities were all located at Virginia Tech.

I guess if I absolutely HAD to pick another, I'd go with the wonderful women of Gamma Phi Beta! The crescent moon is simply gorgeous.

I have also heard that Delta Zeta is the 2nd largest.
